Hrgovic is ready. His promoter said:

"He's in a very good position after just 11 fights," Hrgovic's co-promoter Nisse Sauerland told Sky Sports. "To become mandatory is our aim. [Current IBF mandatory challenger] Kubrat Pulev is fighting Joshua, then there is Charles Martin, Oleksandr Usyk (who is going the WBO route), Michael Hunter and Andy Ruiz Jr.

“The IBF is the route that has opened up for us,” he continued. “The WBC title will be bound for quite a while. The IBF stick to their mandates and they are very regular. So for us this is the earliest way.

“The goal is to win a world championship title fight next year.”

The heavyweight scene has developed significantly in the past five years, having long been viewed as the shell of its previous generations.

And between WBC Champion Tyson Fury, IBF, WBA and WBO Defending Champion Anthony Joshua, challengers like Usyk, Ruiz Jr., Daniel Dubois, Joe Joyce and others, Hrgovic seems poised to be part of a revival of the “Glamor” division on the big stage.

>>> So Hrgovic vs. Joshua 2021! I'd rather see Hrgovic take out Fury first. I view Joshua as the best around

A sample of his work. Stright lefts, hooks to the body, uppercuts, and a hard right-hand delivery with good speed and better accuracy.

1. Kubrat Pulev
2. Charles Martin
3. Oleksandr Usyk
4. Michael Hunter
5. Andy Ruiz Jr.
6. Filip Hrgovic
7. Joseph Parker
8. Tom Schwarz
9. Agit Kabayel
10. Dereck Chisora

Pulev is likely to retire, I feel like it. He will definitely drop in the rankings.
Usyk is going for the WBO.
I doubt Ruiz would take part in a final eliminator against someone like Hrgovic.

Man, a fight with Hunter or Martin would be fantastic. I think PBC would easily offer up Martin for the right amount of cash.

Someone like Filip 'Super Grover' Hrgovic doesn't get a titleshot unless he's #1 contender.
And if he gets there, they probably let him wait for as long as they can get away with.

Don't expect him to get a titleshot before late 2022 or early 2023, by the time Camela Harris is president of the US.

On the outside chance Pulev wins the title, Hrgovic could fight him next.

Or if Kabyel beat Fury, then we have a super fight between him and Pulev. Of course I'm joking but enough cherry picking by Fury.

“Michael Hunter, Zhilei Zhang, Joyce, Daniel Dubois, whoever,” said Hrgovic in calling out the fighters that he wants to fight next. “Povetkin, Dillian Whyte, Chisora, I want all these guys to fight and to beat. This will be my preparation for the best in the division,” said Hrgovic.

Hrgovic also said Usyk lacks the power to be a top heavyweight.

Clearly he's confident and ready to move up.

Hearn should make Hrgovic vs Zhang next. Perfect fight for both.

As usual with boxing it will come down to boxing politics and brown envelopes as to when Hrgovic gets his shot.

It is farcical that a washed up 40 year old man is getting a shot before him- but that is boxing politics for you.

There's almost no chance of this happening. Joshua and Fury are the 1 and 2 and will be tied up with each other all of next year.

I have to ask myself, why hasn't Fury vs Joshua happened yet? I think Fury doesn't want it and would rather fight guys ranked way outside the top ten, which he has, and maybe clean up a 3rd time on the mess that is Wilder ( Once he ages a bit more ).

I also think Wider won't fight another top ten contender as he's done, and one more loss to anyone else and there goes his appearance fee vs Fury.

As soon as a Fury fights a heavyweight who has skill and can punch that's not 39 year old, he's done for. Hrgovic won't let him set his feet and run, he'll have to fight all 12 rounds if it goes the distance. Fury won't be facing a 6'3" guy without power if it ever happens.

I'm not sure if you're serious, but anyone who has been following boxing even moderately knows why it hasn't happened yet.

Because Fury he's been fighting no names since 2018. Schwartz, Wallin, and now Kaybel. Before that Pianeta and Seferi. Terrible competition for the lineal heavyweight champion of the world. Not one of these guys was close to being ranked in the top ten.

2018
2019
2020

Three wasted years for the fans. You'd figure sooner of later this once should happen. Perhaps Fury can't pass a drug test or wants more bottom-feeding to make additional before Joshua knocks him out. That's plausible.

Joshua has been champion since 2015. Fury lineal since 2015 as well. If I were to telling there would be no fight between then in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 you'd laugh. Yet here we are.

Well holding Fury's comeback fights against him is ridiculous. The notion that he would have fought Joshua in his first comeback fight in June is preposterous and expecting him to fight Joshua in August is no more sensible. The first time he could have fought Joshua was the end of 2018 when he instead fought Deontay Wilder, a perfectly reasonable selection.

He could have fought a major fighter in 2019, but not Joshua, who made and promoted a fight with Jarrell Miller from April. He then lost that fight and was tied up with the rematch until December. Fury then fought and beat Wilder whereupon Wilder took up his rematch option. Joshua made a match with Pulev, Wilder III fell through. They could have made the fight early 2019, maybe, but instead, it will be made in 2021. If it isn't it will be because someone has lost or ducked.

Precisely. Good summary. People get a bit titillated and excited by the idea that fighters are ‘scared’ of eachother. In almost all cases, they aren’t.

It’s the promotional companies that choose when these fights happen for maximum commercial return.
