Tichenko stops McCallum in two with a body shot. Romanov disposes of the hapless Lyakovich in two. If the Belarussian needs a retirement speech, I will write it for him.
Really poor from Liakhovich. Didn’t expect much from him but he looked like he didn’t want to be there. These old 00’s heavyweights don’t know when to pack it in.
2 x Commonwealth games gold medalist, David Nyika, to make his professional debut on the Joseph Parker v Junior Fa undercard. Good fighter. Has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in the H/W division & is a genuine medal chance. He's currently sparring with Joseph Parker. Shame on @Inglis_1 for not telling us about this fight. A big month for Kiwi boxing just got bigger.
Well actually @Sandman_ I mentioned it a couple of pages back on this thread haha thank you very much but yes, good to see Nyika out. Plenty of good cruisers in our part of the world with Nyika, Light, Opetaia, Whateley just to name a few. Surely we have a world champ in there somewhere
I know I've probably asked this before and forgotten the answer ... but does Opetaia have enough size to make a run in HW 5 years down the track? Or at least this new WBC division coming into formation?
I was surprised to see that one slip through your guard, but I can see now that wasn't the case. Not the first time I've got something wrong lately. Yes, there should be a world champion in there somewhere. That's if they ever decide to fight each other first. Maybe even an Olympic medalist among them. Nyika beat the guy from Uzbekistan in the Asia & Oceania Olympic qualifying tournament & won four of nine minutes contested against the bloke from Kazakhstan in the final. If he can improve on that showing by winning another minute, he medals.
Why don't heavyweights who are being avoided fight each other? For example, Hunter vs. Hrgovic would be a fine matchup. Hrgovic named Zhilei Zhang as one of the heavyweights he'd like as his next opponent. Zhang's response: “Bring him on. Why not [Hrgovic]. Let’s do it!”
It would be huge for boxing here if he can get a medal. It'll be our first medal since David Tua in 1992 and our first Olympian since Soulan Pounceby in 2004. I'm assuming that he'll join forces with Kevin Barry (another former Olympic medallist) in the pro ranks. Nyika v Opetaia has the potential to be a huge fight in a couple of years time. On they Olympics, I think the question is what colour medal Huni will get. Jalolov will be tough to beat and beat him recently, but Huni would have learned a lot from that. I hope he can make the adjustments required to challenge for Gold.
Huni just went pro. He looked fast and skilled in his debut ,but didn't show much power. Jalolov is a huge athletic man with top end power.
More like its about the champions cherry picking a medium level undefeated types not ranked in the top ten at Ring Magazine or Box Rec. Look at past Fury opponents for example. Aside from Wilder they were all $#^T
