- For a guy who has 8 total fights, his resume is looking pretty solid, with wins over Rice, Wallisch and Duhaupas. - He has KOd/TKOd all of his opponents except Rice (only a 6 round fight, with Yoka knocking him down in the 6th with a jab) - Great amateur pedigree and Olympic gold medalist (although controversial, with some claiming he lost against both Hrgovic and Joyce) - The whole PED avoidance fiasco - He's 6'7 with decent reach, good use of the jab and above average speed for a heavyweight How do you guys rank him among other prospects right now? Exciting addition. If things can start getting back to normal in the Spring and crowds start returning, I can see a very exciting 2021 in the HW division
Offensively Yoka is very good, his trouble is a soft chin which has already shown itself vs. lesser competition as a pro and positive drug tests. He's a good, but not great puncher. Like I said he just doesn't like contact, and as he moves up he's going to get it. I'd put him below 4 guys on the way up. The winner of Joyce vs Dubois, Hrgovic, Ajagba, and Makhmudov If he can stay clean, he's one to watch. Hammer is a perfect gate keeper fight. If Yoka can stop him, I'll be impressed.
I had him losing to Hrgovic and Joyce at the Olympics but then I had Joshua losing to Savon and look what Joshua has gone on to achieve. Of the crop of heavyweights coming from Rio he seems the most athletically gifted with his speed, power and size so there's no denying he has talent. But there will be question marks about his chin and also the 3 missed drugs tests, if he was in any other sport he would of gotten a longer ban than he did. Also can he adapt to the pro ranks, he had a good amateur style which is why he won those controversial fights with Hrgovic and Joyce but that amateur style won't be scored as favourably in the pro's. Suffice to say he's one to watch along with Joyce, Hrgovic, Dubois etc. As to how good he is, well that's impossible to know as he's not the finished article. How he develops and progresses is what will decide his success not what he possesses now.
Promising for sure. I was impressed with the duhaupaus win especially. the reptile isn't the best but he's solid and experienced and he usually takes a while to get out of there.
I am French and even if Yoka is controversial with us, it is undeniable that he has talent. Despite everything I regret his amateur style which was more airy. Of course, he has considerably increased his punching power with Virgil Hunter, but I doubt he has the chin to allow himself many exchanges of punches at the top level.
Dave Allen was unfit and took it on very short notice when he stepped in with Yoka and he says he's the best he's been in the ring with... And he's also been in the ring (on short notice) against Luis Ortiz and Whyte.
I'd like to see Yoka face an Ortiz or Chisora tier fighter late next year, it would definitely show us whether he has what it takes to hang with the big boys
No idea. It would be great if he is very good. But he's had ridiculously few fights in his first four years. And he's already been suspended for failing to take a nearly a half-dozen PED tests. At this rate of fighting, we'll be lucky if he steps in the ring 20 times as a pro. So, doesn't seem like someone to pin the hopes of the division on. We'll see.

Yeah, that was a bad call at the Olympics. Hrgovic won two rounds cleanly, Yoka just one. Yoka advanced to the final match. BS. The cost was the glamor attached to the gold medal winner. The 2016 Olympic field at super heavyweight had good talent. Don't sleep in Jarolov, he's a very impressive big man who can move and punch even harder than Hrgovic. Look at the blow link, nearly everyone who made the quarter finals is a very good prospect. Looks the goods at prospect level, got a decent resume for 8 fights. Could fight a bit more often for a 28 year old though
