He clearly took PEDs how the hell could you think otherwise? That era was rife with it and to be honest not much has changed today.

Cassius Clay took PEDs before the Larry Holmes fight and we conveniently make excuses about his legacy already being set in place and throw his trainers under the bus while giving him a pass. The hypocrisies of this sport are worse than those of politics

In the case of Tyson, anything is possible but I believe he is talking about narcotic use, not steroids.

Some will say it make no difference, but I have used narcotics before and I have boxed before (although I have used way more narcotics in my life than I have boxed) and I can tell you narcotics would bring you ZERO competitive advanyage in a boxing match. May be in a 30 second back alley brawl, but certainly not in professional fight under stadium lights and with thousands of people watching

To be fair, this was from decades ago.

Pretty sure testing has improved a lot since.

Thing about the coke is it gave him added confidence, energy and aggression which is partly why he came out the gate like a bull at every fight. I call it a ped in that respect.

Dude have you done coke? It's not like u can blow a bunch of lines and save it up for the first bell by the time u did the wraps warm up ring walk intros whatever boost coke would give u would give way to a nagging need for more coke

According to this forum you’ve only taken ped’s if you’ve been caught

that’s exactly right once the coke wore off (which happens very quickly) he would have no energy and be very vulnerable it’s not a performance enhancer at all it also constricts blood vessels meaning your muscles receive less oxygen

Not for decades, but I'm not buying that Tyson ever needed a line during fights when his adrenaline would also be jacked. The coke wasn't being taken because he was an addict, it was because it added to his chances of getting a quick KO and removed nerves. You saw the shy nervous state of Tyson in the ams 83/84, sometimes crying before a bout. Tyson imo came to depend on coke (in the room pre fight) for a number of reasons from 1985 on, emotional and performance wise. Obviously he also heavily used out the ring. His often erratic behaviour can be part laid at it's door.
