The new 224 pound belt the WBC have created. What are your thoughts about it? I'd rather it didn't happen but there's no doubt there's a big gap between the small heavyweights and the really big guys like Fury and Joshua. I'd rather a 'bridgerweight' division than a superheavyweight division.
I don't mind the division myself, the name however is a bit silly. I also would have had the weight somewhere arounf the 215-218 mark as well.
Every single aspect of this new division is awful From its name, the fact it will take away from a competitive HW division, and the slimy WBC looking to recoup more sanctioning fees I hate it
The only thing that would've made sense was to change the weight limits slightly to bridge (pardon the pun) the ridiculous gap between 175-200. Anything else makes no sense, but this is especially ridiculous
Isn't the name of the division in regards to the little boy who saved his sister from a dog and ended up with life changing injuries. The lads a big boxing fan. I'm sure I've seen fury send him a video and wbc sent him a belt.
I don't think he'd do this because he's in the legacy building stage of his career and clearly relishes a challenge... but it looks like a perfect opportunity for Usyk to be a 2 weight world champ. He's perfect for the weight and would probably win it fairly easily. Can't see it happening though, he's made it clear he's after Joshua and/or Fury.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if the big dosser is the 1st champ of this farce..in fact it may well have been created for the man especially.
