So you’re saying that, come fight time, Hagler would weigh the exact same or somehow less than he did for the official weigh in?

As far as McClellan goes, you do know that a fighter’s “walk around weight” is not the same thing as his fight night weight, correct?

I addressed that before, and I call total and complete BS.

You can't believe EVERYTHING you hear.

McClellan was not gaining no damn 40 pounds in 24 hours.

Not even the eye test suggests that.

Going by the eye test, McClellan was virtually the same size as Kelly Pavlik.

Realistically, he was probably walking into the ring at 172-175.

    200, yeeeeeaaahhh ok.

Yes on Hagler, he ate three big meals a day leading up to fight day weighing under 160. Then you have nervous energy, warming up etc.

    McClellan put it back on.

McClellan can punch but he does not even have a puncher's chance. He's in w/ the master. McClellan was A level at his best, but this is a mismatch imo. They may have comparable punching power, but Hagler has so much more than that: speed, footwork, brains, high stamina, and one of the most durable chins ever. McClellan might have 5 or 6 very successful rounds, but look at the hell McClellan got from Jackson and Benn. In the end, Hagler would KILL McClellan.

Look further than the Toney-McClellan sparring session to see how Gerald fares against true skill.

Marvin would beat the daylights outta Gerald, you guys can't be serious.

Fighters weren't even weighed on the day of until the late 90s, and thats when HBO started recording those weights.

By the time they started mandating day-of weights, the Benn fight had already happened.

So why the Hell would he even be stepping on a scale for Rick Glaser to see this mythical 198?

You guys are SUPER SUPER gullible.

Go to about the 6 and a half minute Mark. McClellan apparently told the producers his natural weight when not in training is roughly 180 pounds.

18oz pillows and big head guards? Sparring in a gym. Umm. Right.

(And Toney was a big boy when a fight wasn't around a corner.)

They don't have comparable punching power. McClellan's is in another universe to little old Hagler's.

Does that look like a 200 pound man in there with Julian to you?

He'd be the size of fricken Sonny Liston!

Please, don't believe Rick Glaser's suspect account to feed the McClellan myth, use your EYES and your BRAIN on what we know fighters usually put on, and tell me with a straight face that Gerald looks like he's 200 pounds in this fight.
