147 for too long. Should have moved up years ago even before he needed to. Get used to the weight fighting mid level guys and timing the top guys at 154 a few years into it when he,d properly filled into the weight.

Otherwise theirs only one way it,ll end. Like it did last night. Cant hold a punch at the weight you,ve been fighting at since you we,re about 18.

Khan v brook at 152 or something like that. Usually i,d say just to retire. But brooks actually in great shape. Looks more the weight than just age alone.

 

Hearn couldn’t get him the Crawford fight. Confused as to how people aren’t getting this. Suppose he could of had a rematch with Deluca and thanked Eddie for the pleasure. Found it uncomfortable he didn’t even wish Brook good luck. Eddie is all for fighters maximising there earning potential, until he’s not maximising his clearly

Except most people on the Crawford vs Brook threads offering predictions thought it would go into the late rounds. Moreover, the odds offered on Crawford to win by KO or TKO were 4/9.

 

My mistake

 

If Kell does retire, boy is he gonna blow up in size. He'll be rivalling Naseem on the scales.

 

Watched the fight this morning and for someone that has followed Kell for many years that was sad to see.

His punch resistance is totally gone. Up to the 4th round nothing meaningful had been landed, Kell wasn't exactly winning the fight but was not losing it either. That half jab half short right hook did not look like a power punch. I'm sure it had some pop too it but Crawford clearly wasn't loading up. So if not the first, one of the first meaningful punches he took....nearly sent him through the ropes!!

Many years of up and down weight drain, especially coming back down to 147 after 3+ years has finished him off, to the point he can't take a good shot any more, even at the start of a fight.

I hope he retires and has a happy retirement. World class at his best, won a world title against the odds, made millions, no reason to keep going.

Unfortunately I would not at all be surprised if Khan-Brook does now happen. Kell appears weakened and tired enough for Khan to bite...

 

then that’s my misunderstanding. From what I had read / watched, he only approached Hearn & Sky after the event when he couldn’t get a TV deal. But both wished him well.

 

I’m not sure he did. I called it in the RBR at the time. Back stage he looked petrified at one point it looked like he was gona cry before he came out to the ring. It him that this was his swan song and he was all alone without the likes of Big Dom alongside him.

 

Brook seemingly left his once durable chin at home for last night's fight. Getting nearly knocked through the ropes from a single southpaw jab is very pathetic, he made Khan look like an iron chinned warrior in comparison.

 

Yeah thought it must be quite a lonely place for him. In an empty MGM with a small team and not the star attraction.

I don’t think Kell is definitely shot as much as it’s fashionable to say he is. He’s always had a good chin and I think on the balance of probabilities the weight cut to 147 probably killed his resistance. We only got the 3 rounds but his timing was fine and Crawford even said his range and fundamentals caused a few issues early. I actually think there are some fun fights for him like Liam Smith, even Fowler if he wanted to do it domestically at 154. But the biggest problem is I can see no other scenario than his weight ballooning again in the next 3-4 months and by the time he decides he might want to do it again he’s 200 lbs and 154 seems a million miles off.

Probably best call it a day. He’s made a few quid at the end of the day.

 

Pretty sure the chin issues is due to the weight cut.

John Ryder was similar, remember him getting hurt by Nick Blackwell in there fight, he was staggering around a bit like Brook, same reaction. He moved up in weight and hasn't had any problems since.
