The more I think about this, the more fishy it is. There's something dodgy that isn't and won't be disclosed. The timing and sudden nature doesn't make much sense. It's like a silent ban or something.
Retirement is for the best before he gets seriously hurt (if he hasn’t on the interior already). I just hope we don’t have to sit with him as a pundit because he’s clueless.
Personally I wouldn’t bet on it. Just based on previous form. He almost certainly isn’t ‘set for life’ - especially someone with Dave’s issues - so he will be back if things go wrong for him. Give it a few months..
What the hell is he even doing? Aside from struggling to piece together his post, which projects his punch drunkenness as much as his speech, what must Usyk have been thinking with that in front of him?
He would barely have enough for 2 houses if that. He never earned 6 figures for a fight as far as I know, most of his purses were below 15k I'm pretty sure. And then you take out all the camps, all the training, management fees etc. he really isn't left with much. Look at ODs videos on how much boxers on TV undercards actually take home, it's not much.
That’s one of the most ridiculous things I’ve seen in a long time when it comes to boxing. And he did that silly hands down while walking to the opponent’s side many times in a few of his fights. Genuinely have no idea what goes through his head when he does that and what he’s trying to achieve. On a positive note it’s great to see how humane Usyk is and how he stops punching for the rest of the round. Lots of less sympathetic boxers take pleasure in sparking opponents in sparring like Eubank Jr who posted a video of an amateur sparring partner getting KO’d. Usyk is a great man.
In general yes undercard fighters don’t get too much but as has been said before in other threads he has an appeal to a certain audience - loon at his social media followers etc. EH obviously knows this and will have compensated him accordingly. Only need £15k-£20k in doncaster to get somewhere that will bring in a decent income.

Odd isn't it. He was posting about his upcoming TBC fight a couple of days ago. Hearn has also posted on Instagram about it - given Dave's record of 'retirements' before that seems a bit strange. I'm sure Hearn didn't comment any of the last few times.
