And that is why Dave was never going to succeed at the best level. With all the heart in the world, over confidence to shuffle and show your chin to an elite p4p talent like Usyk is asking to get hurt. The thing is, Usyk is clearly taking it easy before hand, before giving him one for being a dope. Usyk s reaction seems to me like he's saying sorry for taking advantage rather than anything else.

Happy retirement anyway, he reached his ceiling and has a future around the sport.

The question is what does Dave Allen have to offer the viewer as a ringside pundit or commentator? I find him hard and a little bit disturbing to listen to and I don't think he's cut out for a 5 hour show, he'll run out of steam unless he's drip fed throughout the night.

2 common myths disproven in that very short insta clip...Allen doesn’t have this superhuman chin, and Usyk has enough of a dig to wobble any heavyweight.

Credit to Usyk for not throwing anymore shots. Hope Allen stays out the ring and makes a success of himself outside the sport.

Please the last thing sky’s largely diabolical punditry needs is some half baked plonker, no doubt offering critique on boxers 10 times more talented than him!!!! I personally have nothing against the lad but can’t remember a decent fight he was in and his constant peddling out at various ppv were far too much to handle for me.

Cant see him sticking to this considering his history on this and the fact his financial management isnt great. Hope he has enough money in the bank to drum up some residual income. But tbh I'd be surprised if he's earnt above maybe a few hundred grand in his career. And then you have to take into account expenses etc.

It’s basically a YouTube of filth. Each creator, and I use that term loosely, has a channel where they upload (usually) XXX content. Subscribers pay to access it. But they pay per channel.

To be fair to Allen he's a straight shooter when it comes to boxing and is fairly knowledgeable on the scene. On Twitter and IG he doesn't tow the Matchroom/Sky line and if he thinks a bad decision has been made from the judges he says it. If he does end up doing punditry on Sky I have a feeling he would actually be one of the better pundits.

Great decision. I think thats it for him tbh in a boxing ring anyway after revealing the details. Good lad dave. Fair play to the man at least he gave it a crack. Not many can say they,ve shared a ring with whyte, usyk, price, yoka and ortiz etc. Tbh he should never have been put in that position.

Always the one thing i,ve held against hearn. You dont play at boxing and essentially dave was playing at it. Hearn neglected his duty of care. I m not sure it was cynical from hearn tbh...think he did see it as helping dave...but it really did show his lack of real boxing experience/ credentials with allen.

Glad hes got out now tho and hopefully it sees him financially set up for the future....and it does turn out a good turn from eddie.

I,d like to see him get a chance on screen tbh. Hes something a bit different and tbf hes had proper experience with the guys hes been in with etc.

Also fantastic to see from usyk and his team. The russians and ukranians etc are tough as nails but they,ve got some class with it. Imagine that being in mayweathers gym .

I think I only watched one fight from this guy, oh sorry two cause I seen the Price fight. I looked at his socials once, the guy just does nothing for me, I don't really see him as a proper boxer, just some sideshow. Can't believe he creates so much discussions on forums.

Hopefully he doesn't have any long lasting damage. That sparring video is just shocking really.

Inclined to agree actually. He’s always come across as fairly objective when talking about fights.

Many have already commented on this but Usyk is a class act as a man not just an athlete. I could name you a lot of known heavyweights who would’ve put it on Dave Allen in that situation and really hurt him.
