My my, time has flown. Who can remember watching this absolute, classic war? A great middle weight battle that showed both men at their best. For those that remember watching it, Going in who did you down as to win and what's you're thought s on the fight?
Time has certainly flown! I was there at both fights, for the first i knew all about Nigel as i was a fan of his, but Eubank seemed to come from nowhere so i started to watch him also. I thought it would be a great fight, and as much as i liked Benn i saw Eubank as different and wrong for Nigel. I didn't think Nigel would win because like i say, i saw that Eubank was different, Cocky confident with huge self belief, but Benn was a test for him and he came through a great fight and won, but not before leaving Eubank knowing he had been in a fight. Eubank showed one thing with Benn, he exposed his limitations, something Benn went away and worked on and became a much better fighter. Would have loved to have seen a third but hey ho.
Bloody hell! Where has the time gone? I'd never seen a fight capture the wider publics imagination like that. Eubank fascinated the public. The actual fight was a real Throwback classic war of attrition between real fighters - it had EVERYTHING I remember EVERYONE urging Benn to completely demolish this guy right up until Steele stepping in
I hear you, would love to have seen that rubber match. Would have been a success I'm sure for the tickets. I always said a third time would have seen Benn finally get the win.
If my memory serves me right, if Benn didn't get a point deducted in the second he would have got the win.
I went with the school to watch Benn train for this, I feel old man, Benn was cool though, but surprisingly very small
I watched him beat Henry Wharton. Was at the point where I belive Benn felt comfortable in himself boxing at last and didn't feel the need to go Kamikaze mad. He soundly out pointed Henry.
I was there because we knew the guy fighting on the main event on that bill as did Benn, they didn`t like each other, also his opponent Andy had some rough support with him, Benn left half way through that bout.
