Watched the first few minutes of the IFL interview and Dave is still full of shyte. "Usyk was impressed with how good I was sparring up until when he caught me". "After he caught me I still continued and did well and finished the round". You'd wonder if anything that comes out of his mouth has any sense of reality, the video of the sparring contradicts everything he said.
Good luck to him in retirement, I liked Allen and he was one tougher ****er - had a great chin. Sadly taking fights on short notice when not fit and overly relying on that chin seems to be the reason he's brought his career to an early end.
Presumably the usyk sparring incident was prior to his fight with Chisora? Allen was due to be on that PPV show had it not been the issues with both hammer and lovejoy. Why didn't he retire prior this and also then accept to be on the Benn card? Strange.
Same here. I think I saw a few clips of him against Ortiz. I haven't even seen the Price fight, unless I've forgotten a lot. I've seen a bit of him talking in interviews and I didn't notice any personality either. He's not a good boxer or even a worthwhile trial horse, or a prolific journeyman, so I'm not sure why we talk about him.
Boasts of "a few houses on rent" is a sign of a financially illiterate man. Minus mortgage, agent and maintenance/building costs and wear and tear, plus the bs from tenants, it's not viable as a main income source unless you have loads (on mortgage) or 3-5 (depending on the region) mortgage free.
Dave Allen - The People's Champion What are you doing next, Dave? "profiting from people being unable to buy a property by having plenty of my own to rent out"
He seems a good enough guy but the problem he has he shares all his thoughts with the world and can’t help himself , he changes his mind on so many things it’s a good bet this retirement won’t last ! He is now experiencing these problems in sparring and fights because he is no where near the level needed to be at to be in the ring with these guys. he has had a couple of good pay days recently so he is use to that now , he could continue at the right level but he wouldn’t see the same sort of pay days , let’s hope he stays retired.
Rubbish wasn’t it. He implied that being ‘popular’ meant more to him than achieving more in the sport. He’ll be back within 12 months.
Don't you receive your cheques? Second Tuesday of every month on the dot, instructions on how many White Rhino related posts to start/participate in? I've got two houses in Doncaster on the back of it.
I don't get it, hands down, walking towards Usyk's big left, then when he's buzzed shows much better defense skills.
I thought the same. Is it just me or does it look like the shot he took should not be having that kind of effect on someone with such a chin (according to himself). Looks like his confidence is shot to bits so probably right to retire , always felt he seemed a bit bitter Eddie and Darren Barker talked him out of taking a decent payday for the Dubois fight.
