Crawford only wants a big paycheck with the least possible risk, which is why he's begging for the Pacquiao fight. He turned down Porter after saying he'd fight anyone. Spence and Danny don't want none of Crawford.

I rarely say this but I have to agree with Arum. Since before Ali, fighters have hyped and promoted their fights as much as actual promoters. Ali did it best until Floyd came along. They manufacture fake rivalries and slag their opponents. I hate it but almost all of the big names do it. Manny seems to be the exception but as previously stated, he’s got a built in fan base and doesn’t need to. Even Canelo helps build excitement for his fights.

No doubt, Bud is at the top of the sport. He needs to take a page from crazyass Fury and help create excitement for his fights. Fans, like it or not, are complete idiots. Casuals buy the hype. Crawford didn’t need help convincing knowledgeable boxing fans, they know he’s an elite talent. If he gets casuals to jump on board, there is no reason he can’t be the biggest money fighter in the game. It’s not his nature but he needs to create some friction with his opponents. Ali said a lot of stuff about opponents and I always saw it as an act. People ate it up but by all accounts, he was a pretty nice guy. Bud has the talent but he needs to draw more people to his fights while he’s still prime. He also needs to get better fights. Brook was his best opponent and he’s probably not even top ten. Spence already beat him. Meanwhile Spence is fighting Garcia, a bigger name in the US even though he lost to Porter. A Manny fight would be a good start or even a Thurman fight if he’s still able to fight.

If you're in the entertainment business, you have media obligations. And it's not enough to just show up to press conferences. Hell, even Joaquin Phoenix, who's not known for being very personable or media friendly, promoted the hell out of Joker.

That doesn't answer my question since Bob is the promoter not crawford. Also why in your opinion should Crawford want Porter? He's already lost to Spence brook and Thurman barely got past Danny Garcia and he's got the messiest style in the sport. It honestly makes no sense for Crawford to pursue Porter when Spence is the only fight that really matters

He said he wants Spence. Who else matters?

This is such a ridiculous mis characterization. Thurman had one fight in the 2.5 years prior to meeting up with Pac and he struggled to even look good in that one fight against a journeyman and Pac barely squeaked by with a split decision. Meanwhile bud completely destroys Brook who himself said he was in top shape and your somehow giving bud zero credit for it. Its a complete double standard

Maybe Arum shouldn't have offered him that contract then??? Terrible business move, according to himself.

Sounds like if Arum employed himself that he would have fired himself.

Arum always turns on guys before they bolt, so it looks like he dumped them.

He's begun doing it with Crawford. ("I lost so much money on this guy.")

The good news is this type of thing means Crawford is probably leaving Top Rank.

Crawford just needs to watch out that Arum doesn't coerce him into taking a big loss before he goes (like convincing him to move up for one fight against someone like Murata, where Crawford gets blasted out).

Pac is ancient, small at the weight, and a part-time boxer. Pac fought the most active version (6 months) out of Porter (over a year) and Danny (close to a year). Thurman had a tune-up and lost 1-2 rounds and schooled Lopez the rest of the way.

Brook had both eye sockets shattered and hadn't fought at 147 in close to 4 years and was badly drained and had zero punch resistance. Still, the empty shell of Kell Brook swept the first three rounds against Crawford.

Look at a case like Roman Gonzalez. Best fighter in the world but no promoter was giving him multi-fight multi-million dollar contracts comparable to what Arum did with Crawford because he wouldn't generate it back. Arum made the mistake that he is now complaining about. I have no idea what PBC would have offered him but probably not as much as Arum did. It is a paying job, so once you have "made it" you always follow the money.

You really, really are trying to characterize these events to fit you desired view of crawford aren't you. "Pac a part time boxer" "most active version of porter" "Swept the first 3 rounds"? Just lmfao

Oh. I see. You are one of those still clinging to Khan owning Garcia before getting KO'd in less than one-third of the scheduled fight.

That's because he was paid to do so.

Sounds like Arum should have included guarantees for various media and platform appearances. That is how it works. Or should. Odd for a promoter to be complaining about himself having done a poor job.

That is what some out there apparently believe...

Winning or being competitive in a few chill early rounds is a huge deal for some people I guess.
