The old 270 pound Shannon Briggs with asthma had the worst stamina I've ever seen for a world class fighter. A few jabs and a single power punch to follow up had him gasping for air like he just held his breath for as long as possible.
Roy Jones does not have stamina issues...he was drained against Antonio Tarver after going up to heavyweight
A young George Foreman, look what happened against Muhammad Ali in 1974, the weather was bad for both of them, Ali was in better condition. Then look what happened against Jimmy Young on March 17 1977, Jimmy decked George in round 12, again the humidity was bad for both of them.
I'm not talking about his losses to McBride or William's. I agree that Tyson was a shell at that point. He trained his ass off for both Holyfield and Lewis and faded badly in both fights. He was very competitive and dangerous early on against Holyfield and Against Lewis he came out aggressive the first few rounds before Lewis took over. If we are talking his prime years, he clearly didn't prepare for Douglas properly but he was still an undefeated heavyweight champ of the world and he faded badly after round eight. I do not give him or any other fighter a pass for taking a fighter lightly. Their legacies are cemented by what they do in the ring and for all of his explosive power, he faded in the three of the biggest fights of his life. I'm still a huge fan of his but even Manny Steward said that Mike wasn't the same guy past the mid rounds.
