So glad to hear that the recent show headed by Katie Taylor also featuring Terri Harper and Rachel Ball had really good viewing figures. Just shows that there is a audience for womens boxing. Also hope broadcasters take note that people will watch if its free
Yes, I feel it has got to the stage where it deserves its own forum. So all you mugs who want to talk about women boxers can **** off there.
Does anyone really know how good the figures are ? Considering the publicity it had across various media and the fact that it was on several free to air platforms, I think the numbers aren't that good or they would have told us. Call me a cynic, but it takes more than fast car saying that they are great for me to believe it.
They've been reported be 2 million but is that good considering it was free to watch pretty much everywhere and the people in Ireland just watching for Katie Taylor, shows that people will watch if its free but not that people will pay for it
Don’t fall for it. This show was put into channels that didn’t require a Sky subscription. It was on YouTube ffs. That means it gets big numbers. That means Hearn will do more of these shitty mostly women cards because it’s cheap to do and he can justify it.
You may all mock but i work in a factory and lots of people told me they watched it and enjoyed it immensely.Mostly they only talk football.Surely any thing that makes people watch boxing is a good thing?
I really don’t get the whinging about women’s boxing. As I said in the Katie Taylor thread, speaking as a woman, yes about 50% of women’s bouts are rubbish and I wish they weren’t shown as it’s not a great advert for it. Sometimes it feels like they’re there for being there’s sake. But there’s been equally as many atrocious men’s cards and it’s been mainstream far longer. In both cases, I simply watch something else until it’s over. Or go and do something else. Who cares who watched Katie Taylor - Irish, women, men, people whose batteries had run out on the remote control. If it’s not for you, don’t watch it. Quite simple really. If it happens to be the fact that the competitors have a uterus, away and have a word with yourself. It’s 2020.
I dare Hearn and Sky to make an all women's card and make it PPV. Do it, do it, let's see just how popular it is, they know exactly what would happen, nobody is paying for it. It's OK doing what they did Saturday and sticking it on every social media platform for FREE and then saying "the numbers were great" Yeah, no doubt, there's a lockdown, nobody is out enjoying themselves, everybody is stuck inside and there is live sport on TV and also because it was plastered all over the internet for free. Eddie, If you really believe in it then back it, stop pretending and lying about how popular it is, you're not fooling anybody.
As ridiculous as this sounds, if Hearn can build the Courtenay story a bit more whilst protecting and padding her record and do the same with Bridges and getting her to really invest in smutty banter he's on his way to building the profile. People will buy into that, especially if there's genuine decent talent like Taylor, Harper, Ball, Marshall etc. He can build profiles with them, ease them along and if he manages to find another couple of Courtenay and Bridges types to show a bit of flesh and sell it to the Matchroom Stone Island massive he could be onto a winner.
