Sonny Liston vs. Vitali Klitschko

Liston is one of my favorite boxers of all time and was a great boxer, with solid fundamentals, a great jab, power to match and a pretty good defense as well. His main weakness was the fact that he wasn't very fast.
Just like Liston, Vitali wasn't very fast, but had a very awkward style and wasn't easy to be hit with power punches. If you did, he had one of the best chins in HW history. He also threw many arm punches, but those did damage and he could also put his weight behind them at times.

This is very hard fight to call, it can go either way. If I were to bet, I'd say it will be a MD.

 

To be fair to Vitali, Lennox cut him with the end part of the glove.

 

Lewis if you watch the fight closely lands an illegal backhand swipe over Vitali's eye just before the cut appears. Since you don't take people's word, see the below link:

Klitschko's lack of defense? The score cards show no man ever won more than 3 rounds against him as a pro including Lewis. Vitali had good punch anticipation, feet and used his lean back height at times to avoid punches. Besides Sonnys barley 6 foot tall. He's no Lewis.

As I told you .38% of Vital's matches were lost via cut stoppage losses. Just because it happened once, does not mean it will happen again. That's like me saying Liston will either quit or get DQ, because he did it in the ring.

Nope, you might want to re-read what I said. I am using both amateur and pro fights to show that Vitlai was only stopped once by cuts.

You are using 1 second to say the left hand is low. A better point is punch stats. They show the opponents don't land many punches on Vitali. Why do you think that is so. Hint hint, it has something to do with defense.

 

And he's wrong its less than 1%

 

Lewis found a target with that right hand, landed his right consistently.

 

Lewis landed just 50 power punches in 6 rounds and some of those were hooks and uppercut. Assuming they were all right hands ( They were not ) Lewis landed less than 9 right hands per round.
