Fury is already well into the camp though, the fight is only 2 or weeks out! Something has happened behind the scenes so they have pulled the plug. Is the Wilder fight back on? Maybe he has been flattened or busted up in sparring? May be Kabayel demanded more money? We probably won't ever know.
None of us know, just speculating. It’s unlikely to be purely purse based because that’ll be one of the first things established. It’s a bit silly to think they suddenly realised it wasn’t financially feasible because of purse demands with a couple of weeks to go.
No, I don’t think Fury had anything to do with it. I don’t think he was in the equation timing wise. If he was, right now Frank would be in real hot water with Daniel & Joe’s teams. The scheduled Whyte - Povetkin on the 21/11 and then AJ in December would have been a worry for BT/ Frank. The original deal for Dubois - Joyce was based on it being on PPV and a packed arena etc They both had to take a pretty serious hit in the pocket from their original deal. In order to agree to fight behind closed doors/ off PPV. I don’t believe for a second when Frank presented the new packages that either of their Management teams would agree to it, to accommodate Fury and his nonsense.
Looks to a lot of people like the cut re-opened. Could be anything, or a combination of things, though. In an interview today, it sounded to me like Kabayel is still next. I didn't hear Fury say it, but the interviewer did a couple of times and Tyson did not contradict it.
Provided Joshua gets through Pulev relatively easily, they should just try to make Fury vs Joshua for April or May. No messing around with these filler fights - just get the fight everyone wants to see made. Hopefully by that time the UK will have the vaccine and there's potential for crowds to return.
Maybe it was his cut from the Wallin fight? In his GMB interview just last week that eye looked really puffy. I reckon that will remain an issue for him going forward, there were two deep cuts on the same eye. Edit: already mentioned I see
Hopefully Joshua. We don't need to see a third Wilder fight. If Arum is saying this though (haven't seen the interview) it indicates that the Wilder issue isn't cut and dry.
Bob Arum is a true legend of this game. Amazing he still has the drive for all the bull**** at his age. The pensioner is slippery as ****.
Arum said if Pulev beats AJ they’ll be tied into a rematch so the best fight out there for Fury is the Wilder trilogy. Arum backing his man kubRAT to shatter big joshs attrocious mandible and make him QUIT same way the grinning little Mexican fella did.
Anything can happen when glass jawed heavies are involved. Especially one who has previous for quitting when the going gets tough. That scenario was why Arum mentioned Wilder anyway.
