This. "(X) beat (Y) and (Y) beat (Z) so (X) beats (Z)," is probably the dumbest, most easily disproven theory of combat sports that somehow persists through time. Anyway, I can see the path to a Margo victory (throw punches and pile points while counting on iron chin to hold up) and there is a reason Floyd avoided Margo and Paul Williams like the plague, but I don't think activity with slightly-less-than-moderate punching power is the way to beat Canelo.
I also thought Lovemore Ndou edged him, and the Clottey fight was also very close and could have gone Clottey's way had Cotto not been the house fighter.
He was halfway to putting a beating on him in the second when his eye gave out. I'm all for ripping Margarito for being a cheater, but let's not pretend Miguel Cotto was some iron-chinned giant.
I never understood why is margarito so so so so overrated in this forum Imho margarito is nothing special. And in this forum he is a bit less than a god, for god knows the reason.
Because the idea of Margarito (tall, all-action fighter with reach, power, a chin, and the energy to throw punches from rounds 1 thru 12) is too awesome to consider the reality.
Margarito had loaded gloves against Cotto, Pacquiao beat Margarito in a catch weight was probably drained on top of that Margarito was coming from a brutal beating from Mosley and didn't have his loaded gloves, and let's not forget Pacquiao had extra wraps in the Margarito fight.
Literally the only caught cheater is Clenelo. And that doesn't change the fact that Cotto was very badly damaged goods.
Literally Margarito was caught with cement on his hands, If Canelo had cement on his hands Cotto wouldn't had last more than 2 rounds against Canelo
Yes Cotto was not only damaged goods from the Margarito beating he was also drained against Pacquiao, Pacquiao took advantage that Cotto was coming in from a brutal assault.
