Not if he'd have been a healthy 152 pounds.

Canelo is a great fighter, but he stood off of Floyd and showed him far too much respect. He wouldn't press him at all. It seemed like he was terrified of getting countered.

Toney would never have stood off of him like that. He would have been much more confident and aggressive.

We're not talking about a prime 168 version of Roy Jones, we're talking about a 36 year old version of Floyd, who was a safety first fighter with hand issues.

Toney would never have been pot shotted, where he'd have been reluctant to engage.

You can't just look at their skills here.

You have to look at how their styles would have meshed, and how they'd have approached the fight.

If Floyd had've fought the current version of Canelo at 152 pounds, it would have been a tougher fight for him.

    /end discussion.

That's kind of my point. Blade2 is a bit too dim to realise it. Toney would have been worse off at sub 160 than Canelo.

Only in consistency...and that’s not a knock on Canelo ....James Toney ,Mike Mccallum ,and Canelo Alvarez are cut from the same cloth

I watch the Griffen fights ...and then I watch Canelo vs Erislandy Lara and Austin Trout ...and I see two guys that have problems with slicksters

    Okay.

I thought you were talking about in terms of ability.

Yeah, of course he would have been worse off than Canelo.

I don't know if he could ever have made 154 pounds healthily.

I don't think Canelo weighing 152 pounds had any bearing on the fight though. I don't think that he was drained. I think it would have been the same outcome had he have weighed in at 154 pounds.

Nah, I think the extra 2 pounds did him in. Canelo's stamina has improved the heavier he has gotten. Draining himself to 154 was killing him.
