IMO, I would say yes. However, different tastes, different eras, I could see differing views picking Benitez, Trinidad, Gomez, Cotto, etc.

Historically, definitely Driscoll. He had the largest funeral in Welsh history and is still known as a beloved folk figure. Calzaghe obviously has the advantage of being much more immediately relevant.
I think you underestimate the knowledge of the posters here. They are not all, "unless they fought 10 years ago I never heard of them". You are a Johnny-come-lately who knows Jack about the history of the sport. Unless of course, we are talking about those great Armenian welterweights that you have such a prolific knowledge of.
Ra's, Ra's, Ra's! What are we going to do with you? You want to know why I love pis*ing you off? Because, amazingly, your English improves dramatically once I get your ire up. To read your last 2 posts, one could hardly believe it's the same person. One would almost think you're trying to con people with your stuttering broken English. That being said, the original post was asking for opinions and I provided one. I did not cross a line, but you did, confronting me like I broke a fact. But here's a fact for you. I know all the fighters you mentioned. It was you who said you never heard of the fighters I mentioned. So one of us needs to brush up on their boxing history.
Apparently Barbados Joe Walcott was born in Guyana. As was Dennis Andries. Gotta go with Antonio Cervantes for Colombia. Derek Chisora from Zimbabwe (although Proud Kilimanjaro had a much better name) Jean-Pierre Coopman from Belgium Alfredo Evangelista from Uruguay
I am 80. We didn't have a TV much earlier. I had seen boxing matches through the window at Rex's bar, but wasn't able to hear who was fighting. I think I had watched other fights with my dad and brother, but don't recall who was fighting. I do remember this one because the name Gavilan stuck in my mind as the announcer mentioned it meant hawk, so I never forgot it and remember Gavilan being knocked down in the second round.
Whoa,so a bit of a legendary poster. Since you have seen the old days greats live. How does a senior citizen like you get into the internet? Who is your favorite fighter ?
