The Benn v McClellan fight had huge hype around it.

Bruno went on Wogan in the 80`s which was a bigger chat show back then than any chat show Eubank went on in the 90`s, did like his chat with Mrs Merton though.

Collins was a good fighter, but perhaps he'd be dismissed as too stylistically suited for Jones if Jones had taken his title.

Personally I'd given him creadit, since that would meant that he'd beaten his two most prominent opponents at SMW.

McClellan, Parks, Nunn and Calzaghe are the ones boi.

    Eubank was a one-off and doesn't count.

I don’t think he quite planned it like that, but he certainly wouldn’t let him off the leash.

Fred Levin says that he hid title fight opportunities from him.

Ruiz wasn’t great, but he was still a 230 pound world class HW.

It doesn’t matter that Tarver was an underdog.

Both of those fights were risky fights to a guy who supposedly trod the path of least resistance.

Yes, Joe would have been a harder fight. But he’d never have signed a contract. Do you think he was just unlucky fighting the guys who he fought?

    For sure.

It wasn’t bigger than Benn-Eubank II though.

Collins was a very good fighter. I’d have given Roy credit had he have beaten him. A win over Collins would have enhanced his resume. It’s just that I don’t personally think it would have affected his legacy.

The U.S. fans and media didn’t rate Collins that highly, and the WBO weren’t respected back then.

Yeah, if Jones had faced these guys it would have been regarded as weak opposition.
But at least we'd say he faced the best out there.

Looking back I can't see any other win that really would have improved his legacy more, except perhaps McClellan and DM, not that it would have made that much difference.
