He was doing very well in those early rounds from what I remember. His hands seem faster looking at him now that what I remember too.
It's a while since I have seen the fight but I remember Roldan being right in it until he was very unlucky getting poked in the eye. Stood out as one of Haglers greater challenges during his great reign.
I thoroughly enjoyed the three fights I saw from him. I want to see more. Best fights from Roldan, outside of Hearns, Hagler and Fletcher?
Very sad. He was a strong fighter. The first time I saw him he was knocking out Frank the animal Fletcher. I thought to myself that this guy and Hearns would be a hell of a fight. Later Hearns chance to become the first fighter in history to win 4 world titles in 4 weight divisions was against this beast. Roldan had just pounded and stopped tough contender James 'the heat' Kinchen. With all this on the line it was a nerve racking fight for Hearns fans but it made the celebration all the better after being rocked heavily then coming back with a trademark right hand KO.
Shocking news. Loved watching juan fight.was very strong and had deceptive defensive skills and footwork....so many fights id have loved to see juan vs barkley ,sibson ,hamsho or benn....its a measure of the man he only took on the elite..hagler, hearns,nunn... r.i.p champ.
Didn't know much about Roldan... maybe I've forgotten. Hearns looks like he's at least one weight class above Roldan there. Tommy must have had hollow legs. The way Roldan came back from that early KD, vs. a big puncher, really shows me he was a true warrior. RIP
Hearns was huge. He fought all the way up at CW and still looked in shape. This content is protected And yeah Hearns could punch through concrete walls with that right hand of his and he caught Roldan right at the end of the punch with full leverage
