More like so AJ can add another yacht to his already existing fleet. Swear to god if Eddie and Joshua could get away with it they'd put AJ's training sessions on PPV. The Sky PPV Football disaster I hope was a wake up call to many including even the most naive members of the Sweet Charlie Line Brigade - If you don't pay for PPV the fights won't stop happening they'll just be shown on regular Sky Sports. It really is that simple. Boycotting in significant numbers works.
AJ'd last fight ( AJ vs Ruiz 2) was the highest purchased UK PPV of all time. We haven't seen anything to suggest his popularity is in the decline.
Disagree myself. I rather see two top 5 HW with great proven resumes tlrather two guys with potential but are unproven. And are domestic and Euro level at present.
I think someone marketed as Joshua has been will lose a bit of their 'X Factor' after a defeat. The casual boxing fan (ie someone who might buy 1/2 PPVs a year and primarily watches football) enjoys a wrecking machine KO artist ala Tyson. When Joshua lost, especially in the way that he did, the shine comes off a bit. He's still obviously a big commercial draw - but in context, the Ruiz fight was in December (more people inside) and was in Saudi (generally UK fans didn't travel) and at a watchable time for the UK audience (unlike a US fight). It would've been interesting to see if Ruiz 2 would've done as well as Ruiz 1 if held in the US at a similar time of year. I'd say probably not.
Isn’t this fight to add insult to injury supposed to start at around midnight and is available on DAZN everywhere else for £2?
Also worth recalling that he was coming off a surprise defeat. The stakes were therefore massive, lose and he was effectively out of the big time as Haymon would take control of the division.
I bet your opinion would be different if Dubois and Joyce fought under Matchroom and AJ fought under a different promoter.
That was pre-pandemic and one of the most anticipated rematches of all time. This is a mandatory defence against a guy who is not that good and who is fairly unknown outside genuine boxing fans.
Assumed it would be £24.95 as its Joshua. I am personally not going to buy it, but a million or so will. Not sure if they charge the extra fiver to get £5m revenue in, or just as banter value for @Jurgen. Either way the fly men have just made up for the lost gate money with the extra fiver. Were as DAZN will show a better fight in Canelo v Smith plus other good Bill's for £1.99 for the month.
There was a certain level of intrigue going in to that fight though Can AJ overcome such a beat down etc Theres none whats so ever here And that deserves criticism too
