I’ve always thought it would be really interesting to see Sullivan. I’ve read a biography on him as well as numerous articles detailing his fights, but I’ve always had somewhat of a hard time trying to picture in my head what his fighting style looked like.

I’d also like to see better, longer footage of Corbett in his prime. Every time I see the existing film of his fights, I always wonder what exactly made him so good / successful. I just don’t find him very impressive, but the film quality is so poor that I’m sure he has boxing skills that I’m just not able to see.

Borkhorsor Vs Betulio and Salavarria at flyweight and Martinez at bantam.

More footage of Driscoll, preferably against the likes of Attell and Welsh.

More of the Row. Booker, Chase, Holman Williams etc.

The golden bantam era. Burns, Coulon, Williams, Herman, Lynch, Pal Moore.

Great film; thanks. Amazing how much Norflk looked like Dempsey with that crouching style. He must have hit Tate a hundred times with that
leaping left hook; Norfolk was off his feet throwing that punch several times.

Tate looked like a sparring partner, which he was. Looked like he hardly tried to win.

I'd love to see Greb - Norfolk....either one of the two bouts. The second one has been described as the dirtiest fight in history, with constant head butting and low punches from both guys. And Greb had only one good eye at this point.

You can see the way Armstrong, Amber's, Angott, Montanez, Ross, Canzoneri, Zivic, fought, all tough guys.

Davey Day was ahead of Armstrong into the 10th Rd. Half blind, half the fight. Armstrong suffered a broken right hand, gash left eye (4 stitches)
severely bruised right hand, and marked up face. The ref. stopped the fight at 2:48 of the 12th rd. When he looked at Armstrong's bloodied face and said, "you can rest now." As Day was rising to his feet. Giving the win to Hank on a TKO. The papers read that Armstrong was carried out of the ring still wearing his Crown. Armstrong turned down $35,000 for a re-match.

Day fought Amber's in a none title match in 1937, and pummeled the Champ in the last three rds, got the ref. nod in losing the decision, NY fans booed the decision. Davey was unmarked. After the fight , Lou also turned down $35,000 for a re-match . In March 1940 the N.B.A. stripped Amber's of his Title for not fighting Mr.Day.

Day beat Angott in a 12 rd fight, lost to Angott t in a 10rd fight suffering a broken hand, and was robbed by Jack Dempsey the sole ref. & judge for the N.B.A. World Lightweight Title in Louisville, Ky. on May 3rd 1940. By the way Dempsey was paid by Angott's own manager Honest Charlie Jones banker in Louisville. Davey was the 8/5 favorite. Dempsey made more than either fighter.

Davey ripped out Montanez eye so severely that the ref. stopped the slaughter in the 8th Rd. Day wins by TKO. After the fight Davey was unscathed, no marks.

When Barney fought Armstrong for the Wel. Weight Title. Day fought Norment Quarles on the under card, Sam Taub was the announcer, he mentioned that Davey was cleverer and hit harder than Ross. The Illinois State Boxing Commission would not recognize Canzoneri as the Light Champion until he fights and beats Day. Day beat up Zivic lustily in the amateur finals. Zivic's brothers wanted to beat up Day afterwards.
New York Newspaper quote, "Mike Jacobs contention, was not a practical objective to have Day fight any of his Champions." Jacobs rushed in a 4th rank bum Lew Jenkins to fight Ambers for the NY version of the Lt . Weight Title. "That's All Folks."

Maybe this will give you some idea, when comparing the fights and fighters you got to see in action.

Armstrong was not carried from the ring. He was assisted from the ring because he couldnt see due to a bad gash over his eye. In fact he beat the hell out of Day. Harry Ferguson writing for the UPI and Brooklyn Citizen gave Armstrong every round except for two that were taken away due to low blows and said Day was mumbling like a stumble bum a half hour after the finish of the fight he was beaten so badly. Ed Hughes writing for the Brooklyn Eagle didnt give Day a round either. Pretty remarkable considering Armstrong broke one hand and injured the other and was blind in one eye from the cut.

The AP, UPI, Daily News, and Brooklyn Daily Eagle all had Ambers winning. No ringside report Ive seen gave Day the final round. He had a great rounds 8 and 9 but Ambers came back to take the tenth which sewed up the decision in his favor.

Im not sure how you can claim Day was robbed by Dempsey. Dempsey had the fight closer than every other observer. Its highly unlikely that the fight would have been fixed and certainly not by Jones as you imply seeing as how Jones and Day's manager Sam Pian were good friends. Pian even stated two days before the fight that if Day didnt win the title he couldnt think of anyone hed rather see win it than Angott. In fact Pian and Jones couldnt agree on an official they both trusted to referee the bout and it almost fell through as a result. Dempsey was agreed upon by both parties thus saving the bout.

Day was losing the fight and taking a shellacking even in the round when the referee stopped the fight. When the fight was stopped the audience was in shock and booed because Montanez was ahead.

You must be a relative of Day to give all of these ridiculously one sided accounts of his fights.
