What you describe is a prison movie stereotype while the reality is not as simple and more complex.

Afraid has nothing to do with it.....you can feel out of your skin fear and administer the best beating of your life.....monzon is not some noble figure you romantically describe .....monzon was a bully who slapped around french waiters just doing their job with no hope of standing up to him...monzon may died on his feet but the twisted bully liked others around him to live on their knees. I doubt in an Argentine prison Monzon had any problems if he'd been in an American prison he would've had problems

 

I read "A Fistful of Murder" now.
I have recently ordered it, next to: The Life of Joe Frazier by Mark Kram Jr. and Floyd Patterson, A Boxer and a Gentleman by Alan H. Levy. So far it is very exciting, with interesting informations and the description of the influence of the environment on Monzon's character.
Well, some interesting English books to read in the near future and for me a welcome break from Internet/Computer outside of work.

Most of the time he has to deal with the Classic forum on his own. He doesn't get paid for it and you very rarely hear him complain. Just be aware that if 1or 2 of the other moderaters were placed in charge here life would be a lot more restricted.

Yeah, I hate him as a person. He was a dumpster fire of a human being and was an exemplar of how being a celebrity can at the very least make the public more sympathetic to you, even if you're a bully and a murderer.

That said, he was an ATG. But that doesn't excuse his actions in the slightest.
