Throw Sugar Ray Leonard in against Mike McCallum at 154 lb, is the Body snatcher getting the W ?
I'm picking MM getting a decision and a couple of kds in the process.

There's not an awful lot to go off in terms of prime Leonard at 154 - the Kalule fight, basically.

I'd still probably pick Leonard though. He was just that good.

It's probably cos he's one of me favorites at the lower weights, that I have him beating quite a few.
Maybe a little bias but I see McCallum beating majority at light middle and a good few at middle.
I've thought this a few years, him beating Sugar. Not one sided but able enough to drop him and get a decision.
    But it's all good George.

Leonard too fast and slick and the sort of guy McCallum wouldn't jive well with IMO.

Think your right Jel, just the Ayub fight in his prime. Not counting the Norris one, he was practically done there.

If you go by how each did against great fighters well Ray Leonard wins. Mike was great in being patient and not wasting punches and coming on strong and using what he found was his opponent's weakness, but Ray knew lately movement and bodypunching himself, so I don't think he would fall for that. My guess is Ray wins a close decision.

Ray didn`t look slick v Kalule, he got hit with a lot of shots.

50-50. Could go either way. But I'd say Leonard by Close UD or SD.

Leonard wins a close but unanimous dec. Mccallum was probably correct with his opinion
most of the big names of the era avoided him. But it doesn't mean he beats them. Mccallum
didn't have the speed to keep up with prime Leonard. Look at the Mccallum -Curry fight. Curry
was winning the fight handily until he got caught . Also, his problems with Jones Jr.
Toney and also Kalamby exposed his issues with fighters with great skills and speed.

I'd pick any of the FAB 5 if they were in their primes or close to it and focused to beat
Mccallum. Mccallum was a heck of a fighter, but not as good as he claims.

There were plenty of reasons for this.

Leonard was already looking ahead to Hearns.

Kalule was unknown and extremely underrated. Bob Arum thought taking this fight on was idiotic of Ray and predicted a Kalule victory.

For whatever reason Ray seemed determined to fight aggressively and this certainly played into Kalule's hands.

Kalule was a southpaw and Leonard didn't have all that much experience against them.

I think this win can at times be a little underrated.
