I've now changed the title to 'Would' to make it more challenging.

If you wanna get more in depth, consider specifying rule set.

Pretty sure Joe Gans would win an early 1900s 45 rounder, with 3oz gloves and extensive rough infighting, but I wouldn't pick him in a current 12 rounder, with 10oz gloves and attached thumbs, infighting limited. I would class both men in the same (extremely high) stratosphere of talent, yet their abilities are clearly suited to different rules and methodologies.

1950s ruleset is the best for debate IMO. It's like the sweet spot between the old and the new.

Whitaker and Duran stand the best chance. De la Hoya and Prior also might beat him.
Apart from these 4, I can't think of anyone else.

Joe Gans stands as much chance of beating Mayweather as a chained duck stands in front of a loaded gun. :risas3:
C'mon man, Gans is a joke skill wise compared to Mayweather.

Like mentioned previously, Whitaker and Duran standout. JCC going out like a madman too. I'd like to see him fight an Alexis Arguello, might not be so close but a great fight to watch.

Camacho didn`t land as many shots at 140 as he did at 135 after getting hurt by Rosario, Floyd would have beaten Rosario far more convincingly than Camacho did, he was very easy to hit in that bout.

Chavez never fought like a madman, he was economical with his shots and didn`t like wasting punches.

Based on what footage I have seen on Gans, there's no way he stands a chance against Mayweather.

Castillo was much less special than Duran.

See, we can both do that.
