It’s the principle people object to primarily, but I’m sure you’re well aware of that really.

Of course. I am fairly confident most of the people here who are expressing their objections will also not pay for the product.

In the end, it doesn't matter.

Let Matchroom FC pay for it. There are other (legal...) means to watching the card. The price is actually probably saving a lot of people from spending an otherwise £20 (or £15). Whatever the 'accepted' norm is. For me, it doesn't apply, because I wouldn't pay a fiver for that event.

But closed circuit would have been reserved for mega fights.

We don't even have to go back to that. Let's talk SKY era.
I remember watching Lennox Lewis v Frank Bruno live on SKY, in middle of night, with no PPV, regular SKY sports.

(and I'm sure neither Frank nor Lennox are wanting for a quid or two all these years later).

Joshua v Pulev is not a good fight like that.

Yeah, but it boxing, so we cannot be so high-minded. We get our jollies from watching two people try to knock each other out, and are offended that we asked for £25 for the privilege of doing so?!

That does not look so good!

This type of rhetoric is the worst when this topic is discussed. I can easily afford this fight. Me and my Mrs fortunate to be unaffected by the pandemic, still working etc.

There are loads of boxing fans who have lost their livelihoods and can not afford this fight. There’s a recession, still massive uncertainty for those getting by.

These type of snide remarks are the worst.

You getting old, your memory is playing up! ;)

I went to Cardiff; Lewis/Bruno was late, but not the middle of the night, and yes we did not get PPV until what? Bruno/TysonII. And had a golden decade from 86 to 95, where ITV and SKY showed many of the American big fights live.

But the decade before, we rarely got the big bouts, relying on World of Sport for a mere glimpse of the greats.

But that is nearly 25 years ago, the PPV model has been in place since. Yes at first only for the super fights, but in due course for most fights involving a big domestic name. And Joshua/Pulev would always have been a PPV post 1995, pandemic or not.

From the 50s onwards, first with CC and then PPV, it worked in the US, and as usual we were a decade or so behind in the UK. But there is a small bit of comfort the US has had the $100 PPV, and even with the weak pound, we are nowhere near that yet...

Yes, so my point is change things, do not moan on a boxing forum, it is not going to help.

I am no great fan of the present situation (government or bourgeois capitalism), but understand how pro boxing works, so deal with it rather than whine.

It was a 1am fight, or maybe slightly later.
    Middle of the night.

I'm not sure anyone here will understand you. I don't think I do.
The whole point of this forum is to voice opinions on matters boxing related.

LOL, then no surprise it is me getting old! I remember it was throwing it down before the fight and there was a big delay, so, as I found out later, to change the canvas.

Opinions yes, but it is very lazy if you not back it up, if challenged.

There is no point having an echo chamber. That is why I like many here.

How do you work that out?

Lewis vs Rahman, Klitschko, Grant, Briggs etc. were not on Sky Sports Box Office when in this era they certainly would have been.
