Donald Curry of 1985 vs Jose Pipino Cuevas of 1977, at 147 lbs. Does Curry out box Pipino or does he get stopped?

I'd make Curry the favorite, but Cuevas is extremely live. Curry was not Hearns.

I think Curry could pick Cuevas apart and stop him, but I could also see Cuevas' firepower and pressure overwhelming Curry and eventually blasting him out.

    It's a close call.

Curry UD, again if Pipino caught him with that hook, God Forbid, but he would never be the same gain. Ever.

Curry would look great early, his speed and skill would make Cuevas look average, he may get a knock down. But Cuevas would survive the storm and began to land that hook, possibly the most lethal single punch in the history of the welterweight division.
His aggression and Curry's upright boxing stance ,with his head always at the same level and lack of great foot speed would eventually spell doom for him.
Eventually those wrecking ball hooks that were missing early in the fight would began to land.
Cuevas would began to take over the fight around the 6th or 7th rd. Stopping Curry around the 9th 10th rd.

Cuevas was a great puncher but only one year earlier lost a decision to Andy Price. Against an absolutely prime Curry I think Cuevas loses a wide decision.

Really like this matchup, I have Cuevas scoring a highlight reel KO while he's well behind on the cards.

Curry should be able to school him but only if he doesn't get caught with something big.

Curry was a poor man's Leonard. Curry would either win on points or get knocked out, but no way he gets taken out that early. He'll be ahead on all the judges scorecards winning comfortably before potentially getting stopped. Leonard, on the other hand, obileterates Cuevas - completely outboxes him & beats him up onto a 7th TKO Stoppage.

I'll pick Curry. Curry in his absolute prime would have been able to pick Cuevas apart and stop him late, while also having some shaky moments in the process. Cuevas was a dangerous fighter but was also one dimensional.

Curry by decision or late KO
