“I don’t give a ****. I don’t care because what the Crawford camp did was reprehensible. The lawyer sent a letter to us. OK, that’s fine. That’s what lawyers do. But you don’t release it to the press. All of this should have been behind closed doors like what men do. I’m not going to take this ****. I’m just not going to do it, because the truth is I’ve lost money with this guy. It will be another hit on my net worth I’m being serious. I turned the whole project of Crawford over to (Top Rank president and Arum stepson) Todd (duBoef). I washed my hands of it. I’m too emotional about it. There was this last kerfuffle with the Brook fight when he didn’t sign the contracts so we couldn’t promote on (the) Lomachenko-Lopez (telecast). I have long since departed working with Crawford."
If youre losing money with a guy as exciting and skilled as crawford then youre doing a bad job promoting him.
If Crawford is really losing money, then why won't Bob Arum release him and let him sign with PBC or Hearn? Only a fool would believe anything Arum says. Arum's own selfishness and his keeping everything in-house is the real problem. He's doing a very poor job of promoting Crawford, as he has with many others.
Guillermo Rigondeaux? Was given his own headlining show on HBO and he barely threw punches against Agbeko. People started leaving by the fourth round (I was there in person). No promoter has been able to do ANYTHING with Rigondeaux. Some people just aren't marketable.
I disageee. Rigondeaux threw plenty that night. It was Agbeko who turtled up and didn't fight like he usually does. Another thing is, if Arum was truly trying to promote Rigondeaux, he would have matched him with more brawlers. Match him with face first Latin guys. Matching Rigo with the Arce's, Vasquez Jr.s, Montiel's would have been a better approach. He'd have destroyed those guys in spectacular fashion.
Rigo is a different story Canelo has the peronality of dry paint and look at where good marketing got him.
Well, the Mexican community is much more vested into boxing than any other community. Beyond that, Canelo has actually fought good opposition
