I was just going to post it. :)

At least Pulev knows how to gather the attention around him.

Two fights or four fights or six fights ... getting dropped five times in 24 fights is significant.

When anyone starts to break down a Joshua fight ... why do people always go "what about Wilder?"

We are not talking about any other heavyweight matchup but JOSHUA vs PULEV. There are a thousand Wilder threads. Go talk about him in those.

This is a thread about JOSHUA-PULEV.

Pulev has only been down against Wlad. (The only other called knockdown in his a career was a clear slip, Pulev was shocked it was a called a knockdown, hopped on one foot to show he was not hurt, and walked over and stopped his opponent a few seconds later.)

Pulev has been down against Wlad.

Joshua was also down against Wlad, but Joshua was also floored four times by Andy Ruiz.

I know some of you want to TOTALLY PRETEND that never happened, but it did. Joshua hasn't looked good in a fight in two years.

It isn't 2018 anymore. It's nearly 2021. Joshua has a lot to prove. And so does Pulev.

Pulev has the better chin, Joshua has the bigger punch. Pulev has never quit during a fight. Joshua has.

We'll see who has the bigger fighting heart.

Joshua took the same left hooks Pulev did from Wlad yet didn’t go down once from them. Pulev was wobbled by Hughie Fury. You’d have to be extremely deluded into thinking Pulev has a better chin. No chance in hell Pulev would have gotten up from that Klitschko right hand AJ took if Hughie Fury is wobbling him with a straight right. AJ’s chin is clearly better and you’ll see that come December 12th.

The Pulev fight was Wlad's last great performance.

Wlad hadn't won a fight in two years and had lost his last fight when he faced Joshua. Still, he had Joshua on the deck.

Wlad in 2014 wasn't the same as Wlad in 2017. Just like Ali in 1974 against Frazier II and Foreman wasn't the same as Ali in 1977 against Evangelista and Shavers.

When an older fighter drops off, it can be a steep drop.

Pulev is older now, too. He may have ZERO left. Most people here seem to think that is the case. All I know is, going in, Pulev looks about the same. He was never very spectacular. More workmanlike.

I can't say the same about Joshua. Based on his last two fights, there are a lot of questions that need to be answered by Joshua.

Joshua needs a spectacular win. When was the last time that happened? How many years ago? There have been more clunkers in recent years than not.

Maybe he'll get it. But I'm finished assuming he will.

I would say very comfortably outboxing Ruiz on points to become a 2 time WC is impressive win (its more impressive than anything Wilder has done or opponent he has beaten). Also being the only fighter to stop Povetkin who despite his age as we seen against his KO of Whyte since is still a top 5 fighter.

Pulev looked impressive still in the way he comfortably beat Hughie (who hasnt been a easy opponent for anyone). AJ will beat on but a lot on here still wont give him credit.

The wlad that beat AJ beat beats the vast majority of the current top 10 and his peformance showed that.

There wasn't anything impressive about running from literally a 300-pound guy who was a late sub six months earlier before Joshua quit against him.

Impressive would've been a third round knockout over Ruiz, like Joshua should've scored the first time. (Like Roy Jones wiping out Montell Griffin after losing to him. That was impressive and spectacular.)

Again, if you want to talk Wilder, take it to a Wilder thread. This is about JOSHUA VS PULEV. Stick to the topic.

Joshua didn't look impressive against Ruiz in the return. He was dropped four times and quit against Ruiz before that. He looked very good stopping Povetkin, and he bored the pants off everyone - and actually asked for a time out - against Parker (who we've since learned isn't anyone special). Before that was Takam, another sloppy effort.

Like I said, there has been a lot of "clunkers" in recent years.

Time for an actual spectacular win. Can he manage one?

There's a difference from winning in style to an impressive win. Beating a unified Champ comfortably on points who argubably has the quickest hands in the divison in Ruiz and beating a undefeated World champion in Parker comfortably (granted in dull fight) who had previouslly beaten Ruiz in a good close fight is much more impressive tha previous wins of battering non world level oppponents Breazeale and Molina.

Ruiz doesn't have the quickest hands in the division. Joshua lost to a terrible opponent, so people try to make Ruiz into something he wasn't.

Joshua should've stopped that late sub in three, like he was about to. Then he got caught, and went down. Panicked. Kept going down. Then he quit.

And, in the return, when Ruiz was in the worst shape of arguably his entire career, Joshua ran for his life for 12 rounds. Ruiz showed up not like Buster Douglas against Holyfield but like Buster Douglas about to get raced to the hospital in a diabetic coma, and instead of destroying Ruiz and making us all forget about the previous fight, Joshua RAN.

Both fights were embarrassments. There was nothing impressive with either one.

Joshua needs an impressive win. He's a bomber. He needs to bomb Pulev the hell out with a highlight reel KO. And he needs to do that again the fight after this. And again the fight after that.

Whatever momentum Joshua had when he was the media darling in the UK and packing stadiums is gone. He needs to reclaim it by actually performing in the ring.

All the fireworks, and slickly produced videos, and "but look what so-and-so is doing" are just distractions.

If Joshua wants to prove he's the best heavyweight in the world, start freaking performing like one in the ring. It has been YEARS since he has been impressive.

    YEARS.

Mostly agree with this. AJ needs a destructive performance. I think he'll get one with Pulev. Rumour has it that Pulev came off Noah's Ark only a short while after Ortiz, and nowadays Kubrat is stiffer than Tutankhamun.

And what are the odds Pulev vs. Joshua goes just like Joyce vs. Dubois ...

With the older Pulev jabbing Joshua to death ... while Joshua lands the apparently bigger shots ... and Joshua being ahead on a couple of the cards when he quits again ... because of a real or perceived injury?

After all, Joshua didn't even have an injury when he quit last time.

Five days away from a fight for three heavyweight belts.

Any last minute predictions on Joshua-Pulev?

Seems like they can't get any buzz around this at all. Not even on a predominantly British boxing message board.

I heard that advertisers of stiff, brittle products like matzos and rice cakes are lining up to sign Pulev for their ad campaigns. It's just a rumour, mind.
