You mean like; Canelo? Pac? Loma? GGG? Joshua? Spence? I could go on but I think you see the point. No one gives a **** about or pays money to watch fighters that are the size of 12 year olds. That's why the above list of boring personalities was able to garner real fan base
Even Timothy Bradley had a more marketable personality. If you want to be a marketing success you need to crossover and grab that casual's attention.
Donaire was a box office attraction. Maybe not a superstar, but clearly he was a very popular fighter.
Why do you think personality is so important when boxings biggest ppv star right now doesn't have one?
Yeah, like drunk Mario Andretti. Spence can barely put a sentence together. Comment like your coming from someone who has a clown for a ID picture. Seem appropriate.
Bob Arum created Mayweather , Oscar and Pacquiao. Loma can barely mutter English but he's proven more marketable than Crawford. The problem here is Crawford. Crawford held the contract for the Brook fight for two weeks and refused to sign until the night of Loma v. Lopez. They couldn't promote the Terrance Crawford v. Brook fight during the Loma telecast (which averaged 2.7m viewers during main event) because Crawford stubbornly refused to sign a contract for some reason. All terms were agreed, they weren't haggling over money, it's mystifying. He really doesn't lift a finger in promotion. We've all noted this. This is actually fascinating. Arum truly does not believe this guy is marketable. He clearly doesn't think the Errol Spence fight will ever come to fruition....or if it does the personalities or Crawford and Spence will not being enough to market this thing to the public in a meaningful manner that will actually break even in the end. Bob has never turned down a dollar ever. He'll slither and slime for anything. He clearly believes this a lost cause which is wild.
Bob mentioned Spence and Crawford wants 10M each Bob is good with numbers Crawford is a hot potato for him also he got ESP+ backing him generating the money now with 15m subscriber he will be fine without Crawford.
Plenty fighters in the lower weights are well known and are marketable. Pacquiao Juan Marquez Morales Barrera Hamed Tapia Lopez Humberto Gonzalez Carbojal McGuigan Vasquez Rafa Marquez Donaire Sanchez Nelson I can keep going...
...but if he CAN get big like Mayweather then he should promote him like the next Mayweather and end up making more money out of him? ....unless Top Rank does not have the network contracts, aptitude or marketing skills to pull it off?
I guess what Arum meant when he says - "We are losing money " - is 'Unrealized loss'. Meaning, they should be making More Money in the normal sense of his boxing investments. In short, Crawford isn't selling enough....
