Taylor is the best at 140lbs on resume. And Ramirez being very predictable..Taylor will do to him what he did to O'Hara Davies.
Just as an opinion then, who you you rate as the very best in the sport? Even outside the very cream of the crop?
its a question of styles. this is a bad styles match up for taylor. taylor can box good if you give him the time and space to operate on his terms. regis is the same way, so they canceled themselves out in a pretty close fight. ramirez forces you to deal with him on his terms. he wont give you the time or the space to look cute, youre gonna have to fight. and taylor has a habit of trading when he dont have to, thats gonna cost him in this fight. ramirez hits hard, and often. he wont be posing after landing a good one like regis did, hes gonna be following up with combos. i dont think taylor is disciplined enough to fight the fight he needs to fight in order to win.
These are the guys I see as elite talents Fury Canelo Loma Usyk Crawford Spence Lopez Inoue That's more or less the end of the list of guys I think of as blue chip talents that would be flirting with the top of their respective divisions regardless of era.
thats where it gets murky. taylor could beat lopez and not be seen as an elite talent by some, but lopez would go and a hofer careeer. if u know boxing like me, youd know the coo
Taylor "could" beat Lopez as anyone could. I don't think he would though. He doesn't bring enough physical talent to the table imo
Wait and see. Taylor is as athletic anyone. He loses his form, which lopez could take advantage as anyone. Taylor is nasty.
I'd happily admit I'm wrong but I have alot of confidence in my own eye for physical talent and I just am not seeing it
physical talent is very overated in a game of blood, sweat, tears. stamins heart balls. taylor has them in spades. lopez needs to show that./
I don't agree that physical talent is overrated. If your overly reliant on it yes. If you add it to a solid foundation of skills then absolutely not. I don't see how one could claim that Taylors intangibles are ahead of Lopez' at this point in their respective careers although that's quite a subjective discussion
His intangibles are above lopez' by having harder fights with men his natural size. and coming out on top. Lopez wasnt a goer before Lomachenko and he proved himself to be a good fighter, taylor has beaten 3 top 10s at that weight, prograis at his prime got beaten, prograis is capable of beating lopez before he ventures in with the tornado, id say prograis is probably sharper than lopez. Taylor also has more to his game than lopez, being older, wiser an overall more rounded.
Considering the top 10 at 140 is atrocious I don't see how beating 3 of them proves anything. This is where things get fuzzy for me a bunch of guys in the top 10 of a division I consider second rate right now taking turns defeating each other doesn't prove much in my eyes.
Lopez needs to beat Haney or Davis atleaat. Because right now he has 1 good win at lw, the win was very impressive for 6-7rounds but he looked uncomfortable when lomachenko started rocking. Taylor hits alot harder and is a prime dangerous man. Some people underate divisions because they haven't got a fighter they like in that divisions, it's a silly phase. Lopez needs to show more, he's fresh, but Taylor is a bad mab.
