Nah Wlad had no trouble. He was trying to get the home fighters point deducted for clinching to much - never going to work. He abandoned it mid way through when he realised he wasn't going to get anything from the ref.
Yeah but as you could see Tyson Fury preparation he constantly trained in similar bouncy ring. I have hard time believing he only did it once. More likely is that it was his home ring tactic for years
Again, what utter rubbish. Joshua and Fury have been hurt and floored by lighter and slower punchers than Haye and as for Usyk you are aware he and Haye have a common opponent ?? Whereas DH won every round before stopping a prime Chisora in 5 rounds Usyk had to run for 12 rounds against a shot Chisora and looked like a sailor hanging onto a mast in a storm anytime DC got near him. Haye would be an underdog against AJ and Fury, Usyk is close to a 50/50 but no chance ?? Nonsense.
I picked him to beat Wlad, but ultimately he lacked the balls to maximize his potential (overly cautious) and had little in the way of infighting too. He never looked that comfortable in a boxing ring. With that said, he had one of the best combos of speed and power ever at heavyweight. He was kind of like Naseem Hamed without the self belief.
Usyk would never, ever be beaten by Carl Thompson. Usyk did not stop Chisora because he through about a third less punches than usual. It was an overglorified sparring session. By the way, the triangle theory doesn't work.
Probably not, but you are pointing to an amateur fight nine years ago. If you need me to re-phrase it to "The Usyk of the pro ranks would never lose to a guy of that level," or however you want it done, I would be happy to. The point stands.
How about, "The 24 year old Usyk who was tko'd by Karneyeu might also get tko'd by the Thompson who beat 23 year old David Haye?" Sounds more reasonable to me.
Guy...amateur is different than professional. You fight much more often, but the stakes aren't as high. Yes, Usyk's vast amateur experience is part of what makes him so great as a pro.
