I heard they stopped a spar between the two because AJ was seriously hurt, not knocked out but I get your point.

Timestamp to 4:40 where Bunce asks Calzaghe if he would have taken this fight as a undefeated 10 fighter fighter. You know from the look on his face that he wouldnt have.

I'm really looking forward to this fight. I want Joyce to win but I think Dubois is going to win, I hope I'm wrong.

@Heisenberg There is always back and forth and people getting rocked in sparring. As you are around the heavies, is it quite a common thing? I imagine alot of people get rocked but not many full on out of there.

Whyte should take note of how a top heavyweight should come out of camp - IN SHAPE. Both put pudding Whyte to shame

Getting properly buzzed is an occupational hazard. Fighters can get so focused on drilling a certain aspect in sparring that they walk onto something they never would in a real fight. It happens, everyone at one time or another ends up looking like Allen during the Usyk spar. You rarely get proper knockouts though in 18oz gloves and headgear.

Sparring needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, different fighters use it in different ways.

One of the best Heavyweight sparring partners was Gary Bell, but look at his pro record:

Solid, but no sign of the world class form it was said he showed as a sparring partner.

    And take Hassan Shabazz: https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/2101

He prepared for his five round loss to Bruce Seldon by flooring George Foreman in sparring.

Mad how you look at his fight weights throughout his career. Starts off in 2012 at around the 230 mark. Comes in at 250-255 now. Sports science my backside. He’s an absolute pudding and PED cheat.

Interesting fight this. Joyce looks beyond crap but has a resolve and relentlessness that seems to be quite effective for him. Dubois hasn't fought anyone of note other than Kingpin but couldn't stop him. The hype is with Dubois but I'm not fully sold on either so I'm really looking forward to it. Styles mesh well too so it should be entertaining, plus no PPV!

The thing is Joe Joyce was a world class amateur, ok got schooled by Usyk but should be Olympic champion and also won numerous other accolades as an amateur. You don’t win that by being crap. Has beaten gatekeepers to world level like Jennings. He is slow and takes a lot of shots but he’s got more to him than just being fit and holding a good shot. He could be a solid top 10 heavyweight for me. I’d fancy him to beat Chisora and would give him a good chance against Whyte if he could avoid getting sparked by a big left hook.

Possibly the best match up of British Heavyweight prospects since Lewis/Mason.

At that time I thought Mason would be too much for The Lion. Of course I realised with hindsight that Lewis would not have been in the fight if it were not thought by his team he was going to win.

The same should apply for this fight, and yet I am still of the opinion Joyce maybe too soon for Dubois.

Joyce in the middle rounds, of a good close fight.

I agree. I'm not writing him off, I'm just saying I can't square what I see from him with the actual results he's managed. Normally I would automatically pick Dubois in a fight like this but you can't write Joyce off, there is obviously more to him than meets the eye.
A couple of people have also hinted that Dubois isn't the new Earnie Shavers when it comes to power like he is made out to be. He can obviously bang but it may not be as decisive a factor in this fight that we're expecting it to be. It's intriguing, should be a really good fight.

Genuine pick em fight, Joyce looks too easy to hit for me although if he can get used to Dubois power his relentlessness might pay off in the second half of the fight. I'll go Dubois by TKO.

Said it in another thread (or maybe earlier in this one) , I see this as anything but an uncertain fight. I just don't rate the ponderous Joyce at all , I see Dubois blowing him out of there. Joyce is far too easy to hit for me. 1/3 odds for Dubois is very good value imo and I will be piling on Lirva style.
