If he's stupid enough to comeback I hope he can go out losing, a brutal flurry of Babic punches being unanswered and resulting in it being waved off. We'll have to endure a sob story after but then surely that will be it.
There’s a very cynical part of me that wonders whether this whole Babic thing is a ploy to once again raise Dave Allen’s stock. Allen retires...Babic builds a name for himself knocking over puddings, meanwhile, most boxing fans can see that Babic is very limited fighter unlike the casual audience that lap it up. Allen comes back out of retirement, chins Babic and starts banging on about how he’s now only 3 wins from Joshua.
It’s pure WWE. Imagine if that was the plan though and Babic China Allen and not only chins him but seriously hurts Allen. Allen should stay retired we’re all fed up of the guy.
Dave Allen is like a modern day rubbish British version of Chuck Wepner. Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce fight later tonight, 2 genuinely decent boxers, one who looks like one hell of a prospect. Neither appear to be as well known as a clown that doesn't take the sport seriously but gets given opportunities and a status he never deserves. He was outpointed by a guy who fried chicken to make ends meet. When that guy got in with Joe Joyce he was absolutely obliterated. That was enough to know the levels, the difference in class etc but still Eddie and Allen had people convinced he could fight for a title a few fights later because allegedly his chin is granite, a theory Twenty has put to bed on here in the past. I just want him to go away for good, he has nothing to offer. If he becomes a pundit there'll be threads on here about how annoying he is.
He got lucky not fighting hammer as he would have been made to look a fool by hammers work rate even though he was out of shape last night.
Allen is proof that a(ny) just above average heavyweight can, with a bit of luck and some marketing, go on a winning run that will push him into title contention.
i always liked Dave, always hoped for the best etc and wanted him to win something but hes not interested. he was all over twitter today from being on soccer am (i think) telling stories but with a terrible shirt an shorts on. he just wants to be liked. the usyk sparring video was soooooo bad, he walked towards Usyk with his hands down at his arse like a drunk man, which frankly, wasn't only embarrassing but stupid and luckily Usyk was decent enough not to kill him, mental.
I was surprised when Hearn said we'll see next year, very different from what he was saying a week or so ago. He definitely needs a thorough check before being allowed back in the ring. The memory loss is from round 7 until he was in the ambulance. The loss of feeling in his legs was caused by spinal cord concussion and lasted about an hour. He's mentioned memory loss on a number of occasions about separate incidents, that makes me wonder what the hell is going on. Either it's happening and a clear sign that he shouldn't be allowed to box again or he's just talking rubbish. Very cynical of me but this is Dave Allen.
The way Allen has been talking on his instagram recently is that he may box again. Yesterday said he'd likely box Lovejoy if he was offered the right money to do so - a lot different from his past statements of "I don't need the money and don't want it anymore"
