It looks iron so far. Joyce ate all Dubois' shots and didn't even blink. Same about all his other pro fights, guy looks to have cast iron chin based on that fights. However, Joyce was knocked out twice in amateurs, both times happened in 2013. Sergey Kuzmin and Hamza Beguerni both knocked out Joe Joyce in 1 round. Kuzmin actually needed just 34 secs to destroy Joyce. So how do you rate his chin?
I think it would take an explosive punch to knock Joyce down. I don't think he can take Wilders right hand tbh.
Joyce clearly has a pretty decent chin but I don't think he ever took a flush shot off Dubois. Joyce's head movement is underrated often when getting hit he's actually rolling with the shot and taking a lot of power off the shot. Dubois obviously hits hard otherwise Joyce instead of boxing for so long would of done what he has done vs everyone else and just plow right through him throwing continuously. Instead Joyce boxed and picked his shots, he clearly felt Dubois' power and respected it, but Dubois is just too predictable in his punch selection, top fighters will anticipate his attacks, he really needs to improve on his variety and work on countering, something he really never does.
He didn't prove his chin tonight, he proved his ability to read and ride the shots that come at him. He obviously has a decent chin but I was more impressed with how he rode the shots and took the power out of them.
I think the added weight has aided his punch resistance. He was like 240 (238 against Usyk) in the amateurs but he's like 255 now. He was obviously a huge guy even back then but he's very solid at his current weight and a massive unit of a man.
Pretty gross. This was maybe the first time I’ve seen him really even try to defend himself from the over hand right, he walked right into Stiverne’s like he didn’t even care. A couple of Dubois’ shots had enough force to physically move him back quite a bit and he wasn’t even buzzed. Mentally crushing to face, especially combined with the fact that he wasn’t even really breathing heavy towards the end of the fight.
Was a little bit surprised Dubois didn't drop him with the shots landed. Then Stiverne hit him with a couple of punches that dropped Arreola and he stood there like nothing happened. Definitely a brute, don't think Joshua will stop him.
