It's inexcusable. It needs to be taught and ingrained as a basic boxing skill. It lost Dubois the fight. Seriously, I'm not talking Manny Pacquiao or Tyson level head movement, but just a bit of movement here and there and that eye doesn't get like that.

Yeah.. It seems like it's something that has to be worked on for years and when you're in the ring it's just one of those things it's difficult for some to both think about doing and incorporating itt. Here's a personal example: when I was playing football (soccer) with friends I'd be confident in my ability and willing to do things that are skillful. However, when playing an actual legit game or training with the school team it was hard to incorporate that kind of skill and I'd B
become pretty one dimensional . In that case I'm not sure why I couldn't incorporate the skill.... So yeah not really answering the question... But i tried

I did see Daniels head move tho....

... When Joyce was landing that jab at will

Yeah it bothers me too when I see a boxer not move their head. At least some adopt the high guard to compensate, which for me is usually the sign of a fighter with no head movement, but Dubois doesn't even do that.

His foot work was better than I expected though, he's quicker on his feet than I expected and showed some lateral movement at times, not much but that's more than he's ever shown before which is why i think Joyce didn't land more power shots. But he needs to learn to either have a tighter guard or move his head.

Being 23, having beaten nobody, and being hyped as the next great champion...that has the potential to cause you to have some flaws in your game.

DD wouldve had to slip and move his head for every jab Joyce threw. Easier said then done when Joyce pumps a piston like jab for every minute of a round.
Not every HW out there has the freakish ability to to throw punches without ever tiring like Joyce!

Yeah. It's not usually the case that a trainer can tell a fighter "move your head", which he hasn't for the whole fight and all of a sudden he'll be able to. He simply can't incorporate it without losing coordination. But it needs to be a focus in the gym for him from now on.

It doesn't have to be perfect. For example, Joe Frazier moved his head pretty randomly, not necessarily following the exact direction of the punches coming at him.

Dubois is too much in love with his own power and looked stiff like while Joyce is the more fluid and looser fighter. Brians over braun.

Joshua gets slagged off for not moving his head but he did very well ducking many of Wlad’s left hooks. Clearly has more head movement than Dubois.

Sometimes you don't need good head movement. If you have good parrying skills and a tight guard, it can offset head movement. Fighters like Winky Wright and Arthur Abraham did well with a tight guard.

Daniel Dubois had neither. He blocked the jab with his face.

This. Unfortunately both head movement and other subtleties of the sweet science just aren’t drilled into fighters anymore and more and more fighters are getting by on raw strength and athleticism instead of skill, which isn’t good.
