Dubois will never make it to madison square garden to fight for a world title unless it’s a voluntary cherry pick.
Joshua got up off the canvas a few times and was stopped by the ref on his feet, dubois walked over took a knee and decided not to beat the count. AJ didnt quit, dubois clearly did.
DDD would never be beaten by Spud Ruiz types in Madison Square Garden - comedy gold was the Tony Dosh PPV defeat. Since then we have rematch with Spud Ruiz then 39 Year Old Pudding Pulev - will he ever have a fight that is even 60/40 in his favour?
I said on a different thread that eye injury quit jobs are no disgrace. You can’t **** around with your eye health. Look at Ogogo who had his career ended because he boxed on against Cunningham for too long with an eye injury. But I agree with other points you made scissors. Dubois looked nervous in there. Failed to make a single adjustment to deal with Joyce’s jab from round one onwards. He was a one trick pony in there and was banking on knocking him out. Tbf he did land some huge shots but why didn’t he target the body more to sap Joyce’s gas tank? Dubois is still only 23 but Joshua is clearly levels above right now.
DDD was only a couple of jabs away from having a Denis Lebedev eye injury and Tony Dosh PPV is grossly overrated. Any decent contender wipes out Tony Dosh PPV who was very fortunate to arrive in a division full of puddings except Fury and Wilder.
Martin Bowers and the the rest of the corner let Dubois down very badly and should be getting racked over the coals IMO. They should have waved it off in the corner instead of allowing him out with a completely closed eye. Just watched it again and I’m sure Daniel whispered to them that he couldn’t see - that should have been all they needed to save him.
The ref and the doctor a disgrace as well - that eye was bad and he should never have had to take the knee.
