In the fight between Robinson and Josh Kelly, Kelly as the younger fighter had more speed and agility, but Robinson just punished him with fundamentals, straight jabs and right hands. As the slower fighter, Robinson kept throwing straight shots to the body and pushed him back. Josh kelly showed lack of boxing IQ but continued to show boat. If not for some of the flashy punches, he would have lost instead of gotten the draw against a fighter he should have beat easily. This content is protected
US still has the best heavyweights in the world, they just chose to play in the NFL and NBA bc greater pool to make millions lol But YEAH, the UK has the heavyweight division on lock at the moment

Probably true tbh. Watched a documentary recently...think it was devon haney. More the training they do outside the boxing gym was incredible. Oxygen chambers etc etc. Really buy into the sport science aspect of it...and reinvest the money they make into their future. Think the brits make up for it in grit and determination sometimes. But more of them really need to reinvest in themselves for training camps etc. Brooks trainers was a very good one in ingle. But their underfunded in comparison with some of the american gyms and how much the boxers over there reinvest in themselves. Just my take on it.
The Peter Fury trained Savannah Marshall proves otherwise. How is it that the best British female boxer is not only slicker, more skilled and more powerful than all her male counterparts from across the pond but she would actually beat them all with the exception of Michael ''The Bounty'' Hunter?
a statisical outlier, if not then it's not to say that UK fighters can't beat US fighters, that was never the claim. but on average, over many iterations, US fighters should prove superior bc of better training methods. the UK has some great boxers but still has some catching up to do, especially when it comes to fighting in the pocket and, most importantly, slipping the jab
also, not as many sparring partners in sheffield. in america, u get to spar in all styles - EE, mexican, cuban, 2black2slick also, UK pros tend not to train with amateurs which is stupid. in the US, the amatuer fighters spar with pros asap
This is ridiculous. I'm no fan of the UK in general, but they clearly field a disproportionately high number of top boxers.
Kell caught my attention with that part of the interview. Still, it’s a stretch to suggest that a two time Olympian, Olympic gold medalist, 1-loss heavyweight champion, didn’t learn how to fight until he went to Kronk.
