I picked Joyce to win via later mid to late round KO, which is what happened. What I didn't know was this.

Joyce has really slowed down! Joyce had to risk a big fight. Dubois did not. Dubois is best stated as over billed. He's not as tall or a long as he indicated. He can box some, but he's also rather stiff and as we saw has swelling issues and little heart Quitting when he did, the way he did really hurt his stock.

Props to Joyce, who looked vulnerable enough for Fury to pick him someday, probably when he's another year older and slower. Joyce still as a good chin and stamina, but vs a more skilled and faster opponent, he's catcher.

As for Dubious, I just don't now if he can come back and be relevant again.

One more thing about Dubois--his power was MASSIVELY oversold. The hype machine was seriously trying to sell that he was the hardest hitting British heavyweight ever, and that was always just plain stupid.

I have nothing against the guy, but he now has to accept that he is starting out at the beginning and coming up the right way this time.

I never bought that one either. After watching the fight I do think Dubois management picked the right time to fight Joyce, who is clearly much slower these days. Little did thy know their man's heart of battle was poor, a key point when you fighting a guy with a solid chin. I also felt Dubois was going to have swelling issues, but not to the degree we saw tonight.

Dubois suffers from the Frank Bruno syndrome me thinks. Looks the part, but the mental aspect is lacking. Probably a bit too early for him putting himself in there with Joyce. And it's probably screwed him up now, he seems mentally weak.

As Prospects they were ranked. Neither were in my top 5 on the rise. Joyce at this point probably has done enough to make a very thin top 10. His problem is his prime has past and he's only getting older. He's probably better off losing 10 pounds.

Dubois is still a top prospect. He just got beat by another top prospect. The difference being experience. Not just in boxing, but in life. Joyce is a 35 year old man that’s no doubt been through adversity, and can keep a calm head on his shoulders. On top of that he has legitimate experience, genuinely competing with good fighters for years, as appose to journeymen, and gatekeepers who have “experience” through taking beatings from good fighters.

Dubois, as a kid, crumbled under the pressure. His buildup was incredibly naive. The kid was literally trembling in the corner.

He can still make a real fist of this, but he needs to mature. This loss could help with that.

It's a bit early to write him off now. At least he took a risky fight.

reminds me of seth mitchell very strong and hits hard and has good offensive abilities but his defense and adjustments are not there

he got hit so often by the same jab and made no adjustments to deal with it

he took a massive leap in class and may possibly have suffered a career altering injury with that eye

Me too, I picked Joyce as an upset stoppage but I don't think that was an upset. Fact is both guys looked gassed by the 7th or 8th round. I was unimpressed by either man as a future contender. I don't believe they go anywhere.

Joyce has always been slow, but still no body has figured out how to solve that puzzle

Not sure how he looked vulnerable either, his chin is rock solid and he appears to be not to bothered about taking a shot ..even tonight against a known puncher

While the is true, Joyce has slowed down too much. I agree his chin is good, but vs a better opponent ( Puncher or boxer ) he's going to pay the price.

Joyce is besides looking super slow and clumsy and quite impressive heavy imo.
He is physically very strong, has great stamina, subtle defense, good footwork and very good head movement. Plus he is a power puncher, very good technical skills, great chin and cool as a cucumber.
I tell you guys he would go right through whyte and wilder.
I hope he doesn't fight usyk cause then he gets a really hard schooling.

Pretty good comparison. Although once it was learned that Mitchell couldn’t take a punch, it was game over for him. Not sure that is the case with Dubois. He just had no defense against that jab, which is something to be worked on. Even with a broken eye socket, I think his chances of rebounding are far greater than Mitchell’s were.
