Tom Little thinks it is, from having sparred him.

Frank filled that one in before the fight started just to save time.

Score cards were a joke 100% and difference between both boxers was one moved his head when boxing and the other didn’t and nearly got his head jabbed off. Well done Joyce, DDD needs to rethink his style or he won’t go to the top.

Problem is I don’t think they’ll rethink his style. I imagine Dubois out 7/8 times over the next 2 years knocking over absolute cans to build his confidence back up and build the hype back up around him being some KO machine.

I didn’t have the foresight to consider this, even though I probably would have done had it been a Yarde or other prospect...I bought into the hype a fair bit before this fight.

Hindsight however shows awful matchmaking on Warren’s part. To put him in with people who didn’t really have the threat to punch back and hurt him did not prepare him at all for last night. He shrank during that fight when he realised that he was chinning Joyce hard and he wasn’t falling over. Meanwhile, he was getting busted up with the one thing everyone believed he was superior in...the jab.

He can still become world champion in a few years time, if he and Frank Warren learn from this. Frank needs to step him up carefully and make sure each fight teaches Dubois a new trick. Meanwhile, Dubois needs to develop a plan B and plan C. He needs to learn how to set traps because Joyce saw every right hand coming hence him being able to ride it. Dubois needs to work on the shots his opponents don’t see. He also needs to work on his defence because although he’s built like a tank, he’s smaller in height and can be busted up with the jab so he needs to work on head movement and footwork.

Credit to him for taking the fight. That took big nads. Joyce had no real choice, he had to take a big chance cos he’s knocking on and needs to move forwards quickly.

    Big Jabbernaut, Big Jabbernaut

Didn’t even need his right arm to beat Dubois. All aboard the slow Joe hype train.

Surprised how Dubois didn't go inside, hardly threw any left hooks.

Joyce had the perfect game plan though. I thought Joyce had zero chance of beating Dubois, I was wrong. Lovely lovely jab work. Hope the big mans gets his shot.

Back to the drawing board for Dubois.

Weird thing about this is are we underestimating Joyce? Maybe that style and his size and engine will get him a world title. He can take a hit too. Maybe there isn’t a style to beat him?

DDD may not be the same fighter after this loss and the manner of it. To have to take the knee rather than be pulled out also doesn’t bode well for the team going forward.

I struggle to see Dubois being ahead in that fight. Need to rewatch as I was drunk but the state of their faces says it all... Those cards are shocking. The fix was in. Thank god it didn’t go to the scorecards. Though Joyce would’ve beaten him up for the last 3 rounds so they’d have struggled not to give him a split. Embarrassing.

Must admit I’d backed DAN Dubois via KO last night, took 4/7 or similar. Easy money I thought.

then I hear his corner saying to him “you’re in the fight game now son!” after round three or four and as soon as his eye starts to close i lumped on Joyce KO in play around round six at 6/1 Ker-CHINGA

Dubois corner work was really poor, the kid was clearly out of his depth, didn’t know what to do once he unloaded a few times and Joyce didn’t budge, not only did big Joe not budge, he kept finding a home for that thudding jab right on the corner of DANS left eyebrow. Game over.

Joyce is a likeable guy, very dry sense of humour, doesn’t need that little rat cheerleader imo, and as people have rightly pointed out with the benefit of hindsight - he’s a seasoned fighter and was a step too far for the lad Dubois on the night.

As for the quit, yeah he quit and I guess it’s a smart move, he was going to keep getting his skull jabbed in with zero vision in his lead eye, what was the guy supposed to do, turn southpaw?

After big Josh quit like a dog in New York against that clinically obese little Mexican fella he ran around like a terrified rabbit in an illegally oversized ring to take a disappointing points win in a rematch which raised more questions about his glass heart and glass jaw than it answered.

Dubois is a young lad, in HW terms he’s a mere PUP, and he can come again.
