Has a promoter ever been more disappointed with one of their fighters winning? What a POS Warren was in his post-fight interview, couldn’t even hide his sadness - Joyce deserves better.
I haven't seen this interview yet. Heard people talking about it. I love to see promoters upset. I'll go find it.
It was the time to talk up Joyce and promote the **** out of him for a great performance. Instead he’s crying about the eye and how there should be a rematch with a crowd, pathetic old man.
Aye I know. I don’t mind Frank but he’s chucked all his eggs in the Dubois basket when he was actually in a decent position regardless of the winner. Joyce, at 35, should have absolutely no interest in rematching a fight he’s just won for the British/Commonwealth/European belts and rightly so. Needs that world title shot in the next year.
It was that bad I actually forget he was Joyce’s promoter as well. He saw Dubois as his AJ style cash cow.
I should imagine uncle Frank has sent his heavies over to poor Daniel basement to dish out a punishment beating for triple DDD's failure. I heard he got a good belt lashing last night, his promoter weren't happy.
Frank signed Dubois from the AMs as an 18 year old at the back end of the box nation days. On paper, Dubois looked the part and he was hoping that he would be his version of AJ for BT. Of course he would have a stronger affinity for him over a Joyce. If Dillian Whyte had beaten AJ back then, Hearn would have been a broken man. When it comes to the promotion of the fight, what do you expect Frank to do.. It was announced as a PPV earlier In the year and they had 2 fighters with zero personality to sell it, so Frank was Daniels hype man and obviously Sam Jones was Joyce’s. I think Frank/BT will have options if not a long term contract with Joyce, otherwise they wouldn’t have made the fight. I’m sure BT will give Frank the finances to secure Joyce a big fight in April or whenever - Sam Jones can look after his interests.
Joyce will be with Matchroom for the Usyk fight. No way will he stay with a promoter who doesn’t believe in him, and couldn’t even congratulate him for a great win. If Warren had thought tactically he would have sat on the fence
even before the fight it was obvious who bt and Warren wanted to win. Which makes me think Joyce is going. Or they are just really bad promotors
Dempsey led Haye into a little piece about how both fighters, winner and loser would emerge from history fight with their reputations enhanced, such was the immensity of two unbeaten guys actually taking a risk. Haye said yes but added the qualifier 'with a good performance'. You'd need to be a member of the Dubois family I reckon to try and spin yesterday as a positive.
