Just watched these highlights and saw Dempsey hurt by a weaker punch than Uysk landed on Chisora at some point in their clash, I feel Usyk who is much bigger than Carpentier could have knocked Dempsey out, Could Dempsey have taken a solid shot from any top 10 modern heavy?

That's boxing if you can't hurt anybody with your punch, you are in the wrong game. I've seen Welters often hurt heavies in sparring, I've seen a welter spark a heavy out in an inter club match. Dempsey had a pretty solid chin, very hard to judge power across eras, but you have to take into account all factors, gloves were a lot thinner then and made of proper leather. Imo yes he easily could, he was hard to hit cleanly though because of his constant bobbing and weaving.
How do you know Carpentier didn't punch as hard as Usyk?
Size and weight isn't the only factor in the power of a punch, you have technique, speed and whether you put your weight behind your shoulder or propel your entire body into it from the legs up, heavies very seldom commit to the latter anymore afraid of being countered or they are just to big and clumsy to pull it off.

Mark, it’s boxing they all hit hard once we realise that the featherweights could potentially spark our 300lbs football players in a boxing ring only then do we appreciate the Haglers of the world if a trained pair of hands of any marital art hits you flush you will be hurt it’s a matter of heart wether you show the pain or not, your off switch however is I believe in the most part genetic.

Carpentier landed a couple of really big punches that spun Dempsey a little bit.
Dempsey took it in his stride and marched on and fired back.

That's just it, Carpentier hit like a girl compared to a modern Heavyweight.
Imagine what Liston would have done to him.

Yep, Jack got caught coming in, but never really stopped his stride. I compare it to Tyson v Bruno 1.in the first round? Where Tyson got slightly shaken up.

EXACTLY so well put. I've been trying to explain things things like this to Mark for years but all he continues to do is " if fighter A did this to fighter B then fighter C and so forth and so on. He still doesnt get it and probably never will at this point. SMH

A featherweight boxer could not knockout a 6'3 heavyweight like Usyk.

Tyson was in bad trouble v Bruno and said after the bout 'it was like a window smashed into his face' Bruno was a very hard puncher with a good KO record, a far harder puncher than Carpentier.

Carpentier was well known for having knockout power in his right hand, he was no powder puff puncher.

Good comparison... except Bruno probably hit 50 times harder than Carpentier.

Henry Cooper was a skinny 180 pounder and had Cassius Clay down hard and in awful trouble.
Imagine what Liston would have done to Clay .....

Carpentier had an excellent, powerful sneak right hand .. he landed it flush, early and Dempsey took it , bounced back and took him out ..

Yeah, it was a true heavyweight slobber-knocker, translatable to any era of the division.
