Yes, 2 min. rounds, 12 oz. gloves... and an open agreement not to hurt each other (at least not in a way that would force a stoppage). Can't really be compared to the old ND fights.

Dribblechin is so obsessed with this he answers his own posts when no one else does. Here is why Dribble- BECAUSE IT IS AN ASSININE IDEA. A no decision was a real fight! Wait a second! Are you related to Mark Ant? That would explain all this tripe.

Are you willing to wager that every no-decision fight included on every boxer's record were three minute rounds?

    Sure about that?

    No decision

Although uncommon these days, a "no decision" bout (ND) occurred when--by law or by pre-arrangement of the fighters--if both boxers were still standing at the bout's conclusion and there was no knockout, no decision was rendered and neither boxer was declared the winner.

There were two primary reasons for ND bouts: 1) some jurisdictions, in an attempt to curb gambling on the outcome of fights, enacted laws prohibiting decisions; and 2) some reigning boxing champions, in order to protect their titles, would demand in advance that a bout be "no decision" so that his opponent could not capture his crown by a win on points.

But this did not prevent the pool of ringside newspaper reporters from declaring a consensus result among themselves and printing a newspaper decision in their publications. Officially, however, a "no decision" bout results in neither boxer winning or losing.

Boxrec.com Editors and other boxing historians sometimes use these unofficial newspaper decisions in compiling fight records for illustrative purposes only. These have a "NWS" designation in career records contained in the BoxRec database. Editors try to cite the specific newspapers giving their "decision."

How does the fight Saturday not fit this criteria? Seriously?

Many boxers agreed not to hurt each other in ND affairs. (We've discussed that for years here.) In fact, there are famous fights where boxers agreed not to go for the KO in title fights, but then double-crossed each other - see Johnson-Ketchel.

Had Tyson double-crossed Jones and wasted him, who was going to stop him?

If he double-crosses the next guy he fights, who is going to stop him?

Nobody would've been surprised if he did against Jones. Many were wagering on it.

That is LITERALLY what they wagered on in no-decision fights. That, and who a designated "media" member/reporter determined was the winner.

There was a lot of gambling on Tyson-Jones online and in Vegas.

    Who was gambling on Holyfield-Romney?

I don't care. I just want the seniors tour to continue, and Briggs needs his turn.

Holyfield held up Tyson in their first fight. Just like he did Holmes and Foreman.

So, Yeah it counts. Tyson held up Jones.

You assert that that was somehow similar to a lot of old NDs, but you don't actually give any evidence of that. So I'm inclined just to dismiss that claim since it doesn't line up with the information I've seen.

Even if that's the case, the answer is no because it was just an exhibition. Even if it turned into a full on real fight it shouldn't be put on their records because it was just an exhibition. I know some fights in the past were billed as exhibitions, but that was due to legal retrictions which are the case with this one.

Even if it was similar in terms of how they were fighting it'd say very little about what those fights looked like, because it was a couple of guys in their 50s, not a couple of guys having a serious career.

And even if it should be on their record it'd be as a draw, not an ND, because there was a decision. On fighters records the decision isn't ignored if it was scored in a nonstandard way.

Seen it. Not half as bad as thought it would be, but I suspected from round one that it would be a distance fight. If you know what I mean?

Roy's best chance against Tyson was from 2003 to 2005 and that also if Tyson failed to land a lucky punch. Beyond that time period its Tyson all the way

Next up. Willie Pep taking a blatant dive is on fight records, therefore the fights in the Rocky movies should be added to fight records.

It was an exhibition so, no. I think the worst part of this fight was the "unoffical scoring". What Pazienza and Dawson did was disgraceful. The referee could also have at least warned Jones for his constant holding. I know it is an exhibition, but putting this on PPV, you would at least expect some decent officiating.
