I watched the WBSS 2 final again today and I just wanted to say how terrific of a fighter Briedis is, I made a comment earlier that he could cause some real trouble at HW, what are your takes on that? Do you think even at this age, he could move up and cause some real problems for the big boys?

Lets remember Brieids has all the qualities needed to be succesful at HW.
    -Fantastic Chin
    -Great footwork
    -Great inside fighting
    -Great combinations
-Really crafty in general with a high ring IQ, the way he uses his left hook is a thing of beauty.
    -Good power and speed

Well, exactly Usyk at HW he is capable to beat up.
Attitude to so called Briedis loss as permanent proof that he is worse than Usyk is funny.
When Ruiz stopped A.J, he still was not considered as bad boxer etc.
He won Ruiz in rematch by points. Briedis did not had rematch vs Usyk. Usyk barely defeated him on points. Briedis is from small country.
Why he need again Briedis if no one gave him toughter fight than Briedis? He was lucky that Briedis decided to box with him not maul in clinches, still Usyk had fall down when a bit get hold by him and rotated a bit. Fall down quickly. Slip.

Most likely they never will have fight.
Different question that Usyk is more marketable of course.
With Whiterspoon and Chisora he had considerably lesser problems than Usyk had. Most likely both had been dropped in distance.
Chisora quickly had to realize that he will not power bully Briedis or maul him in clinches. To outbox Briedis he not likely is capable, Usyk barely managed to do this because Briedis choosed wrong gameplan. Usyk's luck.
Also Briedis does have good gas tank, his best performance vs Dorticos and Usyk was in last rounds. Gas tank is better than Usyk's gas tank.
Depends from his shape. Briedis isn't young and this matters.
One pros he does have, unlike Usyk, he looked even a bit more mobile in his HW fights when he didn't had to make CW limit.
Pretty smootly moving 95-98 kg versions of Briedis weren't slower than his CW versions and even a bit more mobile on legs than CW versions of Briedis.

Briedis if in good shape, fights are really damn watchable and not boring. If no, then not interesting.

If he could, why did he leave the heavyweight division and move down to cruiserweight?

He spent nearly four years at the beginning of his career and fought nearly a dozen fights at heavyweight before moving down.

Seems like the move of a guy who didn't think he could beat everyone at heavyweight.

Only idiots think that they are capable to beat everyone.
HW division is with more money and guys from small countries doesn't gave high fanbase.
Usyk moved up to HW and still his best fight was only ws Briedis ( for his fans and Egis team to celebrate ) and Murat.
At HW division Usyk had fought not known out of retirement Whiterspoon and was supposed to fight with Spong that had defeated only bums in boxing. Spong was good KBer, really good. Not known in boxing.
    Then he get this Whiterspoon.
Now after so long long team he get Chisora who is good boxer but doesn't have reach advantage vs Usyk, is slow as turttle if compare with the same Briedis and does have bad gas tank.

Do not dream that some Usyk is much needed for HW top. Already spent so much time without any notable fight.
Bragging how he is better than Briedis is Usyk fanbases and Egis team problem not my problem.

You too might sit and enjoy how Briedis had been defeated by Usyk etc.
Enjoy, I do not like this bitching, Usyk is nothing much better than Briedis. Maybe a bit this night he was.
    Just more marketable kid.

Usyk will not defeat not A.J, nor even Dorticos now. Not alone Briedis or Fury.
    He now is too old.

That's what every heavyweight champion in history thought. (LOL) That's the job when you're a heavyweight champion. You have to believe you can beat everyone.

    Clearly, Briedis didn't.

    Most likely no.
Is it so shameful? You think boxers aren't fighting for paychecks and I more respect realistic thinking guys.:D
To statisfy you boxer must fight at HW division or pick up another occupation. Casual fans in internet value only HW.
CW division at least was divsion where a lot top fighters fought other top guys.
Usyk runned from CW division and vacated belts, moved up and thus far no notable fights.

Guys like you will continue to judge the same Briedis as bad etc, he definitely do not cares about random forums posts or opinions.

    There, just entertainment forum.

Gassiev is young, 27, of course he might last longer even at CW division, not alone HW division. 8 years younger than Briedis.

Shape too matters, looks that for him it might be different. There not good, there again good.
V.s Dorticos he looked not bad but subjectively I think it wasn't his best shape.
Some other fights he looked aging, then again in next fights like younger again.

I have no idea what you're ranting about. The question was could he beat everyone but Fury and Usyk. I said clearly HE didn't even believe that, because he left the division after four years and moved down.

That's all. You don't think he can either. So we agree.

Hurray. (I hate to see how you act to people who actually disagree with you. LOL)

    .

Usyk too was walking around more than 200 lbs when he fought at CW division.
Most likely then according to your way of thinking he too did not believed that he is capable to beat everyone at HW division.:D:D

Your opinion that this Briedis can't defeat Usyk is based on one decision win in close fight.
Because for you this is enough.
You even do not see how Usyk had slowed down is compare with him in WBSS tournament.
Of course for old out of retirement Whiterspoon and very slow Chisora he still was too fast.

Again, I don't believe I have ever spoken on the results of Usyk vs. Briedis. So I don't know where this is coming from. (LOL)

You're ranting at the wrong person.

Briedis spent years at heavyweight and moved down. And, as far as I know, he hasn't moved back up again after winning against Dorticos. Has he?

If he thought he could beat everyone, he wouldn't have moved down. That's as far as my opinion goes on him as a heavyweight.

I'd put money on none of these Cruiserweights ever winning a belt off of a champion. Not a single one of them

Most likely but pro boxing is about money. paychecks and show.
Belts are decorations. More belts, better wievership.

The same Usyk collected paychecks for fights vs Whiterspoon :D and Chisora.
The same Chisora is not champion, still he had collected pretty nice paychecks during his career. Nice purse also for fight vs Usyk.

Slow down. Usyk himself hasn't proven anything yet.
