Fury has the two (three) best wins of any active HW, and that's just how it is. Wlad and Wilder were the most dangerous heavies at the time Fury fought them and were on long unbeaten streaks. Nobody gave him a chance against Wlad and the majority thought he was getting KO'd by WIlder in both fights. This tells us that people were rating Wlad and Wilder highly at that time, so let's not rewrite history. Fury also did it away from home and on promotions that were favouring the home fighter heavily. That's why Fury is rated. He isn't rated on ''looking the part'' or ''passing the eye test'' or promotional hype. In fact, he was overlooked by bigger promoters and media companies for his entire career until the comeback. If you know Fury's career at all, you'll realise he's the opposite of a hype job. He had to create his own hype with his mouth. On his return to the UK after winning all the HW belts off of Wlad, he got very little media attention, had a tiny press conference. If that had been AJ, the commotion would have been seen from space.
I see your point about Fury. It doesn't take a genius to see the skill, but his resume in the last 5 years is pretty thin. To Fury's defense, 99% of fighters have thin resumes. No big deal. A motivated Fury gives pure hell to any of the greats in history.
some people just can't reflect like you can though. there was a poster on here called 'bailey' once...
who was the highest profile HW over the past several years who was fighting on the biggest stage of all prior to fury beating him?
Fury is not as bad as people used to say he was when he was upper cutting himself in the face. Nor is he as good as people now say he is after beating up Wilder. No one cheated Wilder, he was due for a butt kicking. And Fury was the guy to do it. Joshua would have got waxed. But now it's different and Wilder's weaknesses are exposed. Will Fury beat Joshua. He has an excellent chance however the longer the delay, the better it is for AJ. If it happens by Spring, I'd pick Fury. But that don't make him GOAT. He'll need a string of good wins for that.
Without doubt the best of a very average Era....Klitschko was 41 when he fought Him Prime Vlad would have finished Him early.!!!
You're not "lucky" beating even a past prime Wlad or DW. For all his mediocre pure boxing skills, most here think Wilder has the best right in the HW div. <cut> That's a very short mile I see AJ will be fighting yet another name, near 40 yr old soon. See how easy it is?
Klitsckho was 39. As for the thread, he has beaten two of the three greatest rivals of his era, and is trying to get the third in the ring, so no, no hype job here. Just a real fighting man.
I'm not sure what you are trying to say? are you saying that AJ has only beaten a bunch of 40yr olds? maybe you should have a look at the current top 20 rated heavyweights and see who has beaten more of them, Fury or AJ
Yeah just checked 39 very close to 40 that being said a Prime Vlad would have finished Him early In my opinion.!!!
point win vs Ruiz in rematch. Wlad was old when he fought A.J and Fury. Like A.J resume too. A.J fights old uncles and when he get in the ring fat leg lazy Ruiz A.J had problems because Ruiz was not enough old. Now A.J again will fight with uncle, 39.yo Pulev. NO. 1. Before 1 st fight Fury vs Wilder internet and YT were full with fans comments how Wilder will easily KO Fury. How weak Fury's resume is etc. Fury was underdog and fought on foreign soil in country where Wilder was No1 HW boxer, fans favourite. Wilder didn't managed to defeat Fury and get interesting draw that Wilder's fans represented in forums as gift to Fury. 2. Before 2 nd fight again full forums how easily Wilder will beat up Fury, how owerhyped is Fury etc. Long, more than 2 years talks how bad Fury is. Facts: Fury stopped Wilder. A.J vs Ruiz saga. Before first fight: Ruiz total underdog, full forums how easily A.J will beat up fat leg lazy panda. Easy night in the office etc. Ruiz heavy underdog. Facts : Ruiz stopped A.J. 2 nd fight: A.J outpoints Ruiz and now ppl love to forget how A.J had been finished in distance by Ruiz. Fury vs Wilder : draw and win via stoppage. A.J vs Ruiz : loss via stoppage and win by points. Now to discredit Fury even Wilder might be so bad boxer etc? He at least wasn't leg lazy fat boxer with short reach.
He's not a hype job. He's a good fighter. He has a long way to go to prove himself an all-time great level heavyweight though. If he hadn't thrown away his prime years he might have been great.
