Dubois was shamed by several former and fighters for quiting, would any heavyweight from the past that criticized him have beaten and Dubois? Would any current heavy, like Whyte that slammed Dubois beat DDD?
Some are defending him. Look, I don't blame Dubois for quitting if it saved his health. But the young man has very limited talents, and I am not just jumping off the bandwagon, but am on record as having said this since the beginning. I am by no means the most knowledgeable poster on here, but he doesn't stand like a fighter, he doesn't move like a fighter, he doesn't fight like a fighter. He does all of these things like an actor trying to play a fighter. I think the loss has really opened people's eyes, so the answer is, yes, most of the guys who are criticizing him would beat him. Not saying he can't get better, but he needs to honestly evaluate himself and start over.
If it's a serious injury there's no shame in quitting. He is only 23. He needs to work on his technique.
But most fellow fighters support his decision to save his eyeball . Whyte is a ducker which is probably worse quitting
Dubois is a long way off fighting Whyte. It would be more realistic for him to set his sights on the far less threatening Hughie Fury.
He didnt just quit due to the eye injury though. He admitted as much in the post fight interview that he gassed out and punched himself out. So lets not pretend the quit here was all about an injury as it wasnt guys. He isnt going to be another David Price, and he looks good enough to become European champion one day. But based on this performance we cant rate him as a future world champion. A future world champion would have had the ring IQ to adjust in the ring and win that fight.

Dubois quit. And his cornermen were obviously concerned about his heart very early on in the fight .... long before the eye was even properly swollen, nevermind signs of something fractured. People need to get over it. He quit. Yes, he can come again. And prove himself a warrior. But at the moment his heart is questionable.
Nope After ive just seen Michel get his ass kicked by bolotniks for 10rounds and get up and fight to last. And Santana getting beaten up by lopez last night and still getting up. Dubois didnt show heart! He panicked! that is all, it was inexperience.
If his eye socket is broken, I’m not sure yet whether that’s a career protecting smokescreen, then I don’t blame him for taking a knee. I’ve said on another thread, I’ve had structural damage to an eye and the pain when another blow lands is not like any other pain I’ve ever felt. So I’d actually give Dubois some credit for fighting 3 or so rounds with that damage before succumbing to the pain & injury. One thing I haven’t seen yet is any analysis showing when the damage was inflicted, which round, which punch etc? Normally we’d get a few replays of when the pundits think the damage was inflicted! I know there was cumulative damage to the soft tissue around the eye from JJs jab but which specific punch from Joyce actually shattered DDs eye socket? Now as for DDs fighting ability He’s been fed a string of opponents who have offered zero challenge to him with the possible exceptions of Gorman and to a lesser extent Lartey. Dubois has been able to swagger into the ring and and just lay on a beating with little regard for employing either offensive or defensive skills. He needs to get away from Frank Warren and probably his trainer as well but to recognise that he will have to come to terms with the fact that he’s not at the level he thinks or has been told he’s at. He’s going to have to go back to learning and improving the fundamentals while adding some guile, variety and understanding to his abilities. He can definitely come again, he’s only 23, he has a great physique and can be so much better than he’s showing.
The orbital fracture is a red herring being used for propaganda now. Nobody knew, and he didn't quit because he knew he had an orbital fracture. If that was known, the doctor would have examined it and he would have had an out. If it happened that round, he wouldn't have known the sensation associated with that situation, so he didn't quit due to his sensible longsighted opinion about orbital fractures and their long term effects on retinal integrity etc. Laughable! He quit because he's a bully fighter with no heart. Look at all these people making excuses for the ''next big monster'' at HW! You think your hero didn't quit? Then take a look at this well known clown, who has about 10 times the heart of Dubious: Klitschko defeats Briggs by UD. ''Brought to a hospital, Briggs was initially treated in intensive care and found to have suffered a left orbital fracture, a broken nose, and a torn left biceps.[28]''
