I remember this PPV as being a bit **** and the main event was terrible but the show also featured two world title fights featuring Scott Quigg and Jaime McDonnell and James Degale, George Groves, Callum Smith and Anthony Joshua on the undercard. I may be wearing rose coloured spectacles, I'm sure I am, but what a difference to what we have now.
Absolutely. I remember it as a **** show that even Hearn criticised but compared to Chisora Usyk and the undercard, Whyte Povetkin too, it looks stacked.
At the time it was a decent undercard. If Bellew vs cleverly was a barnstormer we would have a different view on it
I I agree it was a decent card and lot of names on it. Just saying at the time all the fuss was how bellew vs cleverly was Ppv and how it was a stinker.
It was a stinker. The undercard had names but they were all clear favourites in 1/20 or 1/50 style matches.
The Brook v Gavin PPV has 3 World title fights, 2 British title fights , a Commonwealth title fight and Joshua. Wow !
Apart from the main event, which funnily enough was a late addition to the card, they all delivered. Great night of boxing. It's been a gradual decline ever since.
Groves struggled against a light-middleweight who had his mother in his corner, Degale beat up a shot Periban and Joshua was fed the ghost of Michael Sprott. It was as bad as we all remember.
That was back when Hearn used to “stack his undercard” with known names in 1/50 fights. Cant even do that now as they all want PPV loot
