That video highlights why I hate southpaws that keep their lead right hands low. One of the biggest advantages of being a lefty is that you can block an orthodox fighters jab, but by keeping your lead hand low as a lefty you allow the orthodox fight to extend their left blocking the path of your jab as your jab has to come upwards and will hit the bottom of their glove or arm. Spence though does keep his lead arm up so the technique Tsyzo used with his lead hand wouldn't work vs Spence. Spence is actually a tough style for Tyszu because he doesn't like to be pressured as we saw vs Vince Phillips and Hatton. But neither of them are southpaw and open to Tzyu's vaunted right hand. Not sure who would win, but it won't be the cake walk he had vs Judah.
Kosta is a great fighter, Errol takes this. People seem to think Errol is just this big brawler. He is a very technical and talented fighter. He is also very smart. He takes calculated risks. He would be fully aware of Kostas strengths/weaknesses, and what he needs to employ for this particular fight. Spence has also showed that he has alot of DOG in him and a really good chin. Kosta has alot o power but so does Danny Garcia. At worst Kosta and Dannys power is comparable. Danny may actually hit harder, and i believe Danny has a better chin and is overall more tough than Kosta
With gritted teeth, I have to agree with @Brighton bomber @boxingjunky and @Olu G. Rotimi . Kostya was a A+ fighter at 140 but a B+ fighter at 147. I don't think Errol would even be too bothered by Kostya's right hand.
So since Kosta never fought at 147 and he was an A+ fighter in your eyes? I think a lot of people here are wearing rose tinted goggles because Spence looked mostly like the Spence of old after that horrific car wreck. I say mostly because there was something definitely off. Spence himself commented on it. Imagine he never has the crash and you watched him take his foot off the gas against an outclassed Garcia last night. You would be asking yourself what was wrong. I believe the Spence pre crash would have stopped Garcia last night. Maybe I’m wrong. Tszyu was an exceptional all around boxer puncher who relied heavily on accuracy and timing, and carried formidable punching power; he is often regarded as one of the hardest-punching light-welterweights in the division's history. He was also a warrior. I think it’s a 50/50 fight as right now Spence is still a little suspect. Now the people saying Spence walks over him are simply, objectively wrong.
Kostya was an A-level fighter who campaigned his whole professional career @ 140. Even the World Amateur Championship he won was @ Light Welter 139lbs. I wouldn't compare him with the top welters b/c that's not the division he fought in. I think the Vernon Forrest who beat Shane Mosley would be 75/25 against Spence.
Tszyu never showed he could be successful at 147, and never had the desire to try. There's no basis for picking him over Spence.
Yeah I meant if he fought at 147, he would be a B+ fighter. I might pick him over Amir Khan or Mikey Garcia but thats about it at the elite level.
I think the Forrest that beat Mosely, outboxes Spence. If Brook was able to hurt Spence, Forrest probably could also as well. He had a good jab, right hand, and uppercuts. As far as Tszyu. He had Vince Phillips, and Ricky Hatton problems at 140. He's not beating Spence.
Rose tinted glasses Spence too big and too sexy 67" reach won't cut it against Spence. That's manlet territory.
Tszyu was my fav fighter, no way Garcia hits harder than Tszyu. Tszyu clearly has the power advantage of the two but I will agree with you that Garcia is tougher than Tszyu. Remember as a big Tszyu fan, I don't like to admit that. I do think Tszyu was tough and clearly a warrior but there were one or two obvious occasions where he was broken by his opponent. Kostya smashed virtually all his opponents, except for his losses and a couple of tough fights, Hector Lopez, Hurtado etc. I think Tszyu, pound for pound is a better fighter than Spence, I actually think Spence has been highly overrated. Spence is a good, big welterweight. I actually think Pac would still beat him and Crawford would beat him.
