Golota would actually do pretty good for a couple of rounds...using his superior left jab...but when Baer finally lands a big right hand, the Pole would wilt, then panic just before Maxie crushes him.
The Golota from the Bowe fights destroys Baer. Too much skill, too much talent, too much man. Actually a lot of lesser versions of Golota beat him too. Not much of a contest actually.
I agree. Baer's physical attributes were real but he was not a very good boxer. Golota at his best was an excellent boxer and he had big power. I don't think Baer was better than Bowe and Golota was clocking Bowe. The only wildcard is whether Golota has a melt down in the ring and hits Baer with a mallet in the nuts or something.
Here's the rub on Golata. With all his talent, size and strength he didn't win one major bout .. Brewster, Grant, Ruiz, Bowe, Lewis, Tyson all beat him, most decisively .. the Bowe losses disturbingly ... he managed a draw vs Byrd ... if you could hurt Golata he checked out into a bizarre universe of self sabotage and run and done. There is no doubt he had far more skills than Max Baer who could be truly painful to watch , however, if Baer came to fight he had decent size at 6' 3" , reach at 80" plus more than enough power to bring out Golata's demons ... it is possible at some point he rings Golata's bell and then all bets are off .
Hi Buddy. Excellent prognosis, and hard to refute, as I say, when breaking down a fantasy fight there is always a post that makes it easier for me to conclude who would win, and yours ( once again ) is that post, many thanks. stay safe he grant, chat soon . Mike.
Neither man is exactly consistent, but one choked in all his bouts of any importance, while the other at least presents a mixed picture in them. I think that Baer would win, possibly even on one of his frequent off nights. If Golota wants to make it dirty, Baer is going to be fine with that, and he takes a punch better. If the fight is going Golotas way as it did against Bowe, he is not going to be getting Baer out of there, and that is going to make him foolish. I just see far more ways for Golota to lose than Baer.
Golota beats the everloving **** out of Max for most of the fight's duration but I could see Andy mentally shutting down if Baer lands hard.
